Use of Water-Modified Supercritical Carbon Dioxide for Direct Preparation of CrystallineMonolithic TiO2 Aerogels.
Cerhová, Marie
2017 - English
We studied a combination of supercritical CO2 and water for the preparation of crystalline and pure nanostructured TiO2 without any thermal processing. The effect of temperature (40–100 °C) and pressure (10–30 MPa) on the purity, structural and textural properties was investigated.\n\n\n Keywords: carbon dioxide; TiO2; pressure Available in a digital repository NRGL

Helicene-based Thioureas.
Jakubec, Martin
2017 - English
The main goal of this work was to introduce the helicene moiety into the structure of bis(aryl)thiourea, to prepare a new type of a helicene-based organocatalyst. Several aryl(helicenyl)thioureas were synthesized so far. Their ability to form hydrogen-bond complexes with various types of substrates was verified using NMR and the activity of the catalysts is currently being explored.\n Keywords: helicene moiety; ability; nmr Available in a digital repository NRGL

Highly time resolved measurement of atmospheric elemental and organic carbon at a typical background site in Central Europe.
Mbengue, Saliou; Fusek, M.; Schwarz, Jaroslav; Holoubek, Ivan
2017 - English
Atmospheric organic (OC) and elemental (EC) carbon play an important role in atmospheric chemistry, climate change and public health. There have been relatively few studies dealing with EC and OC in rural background sites which are less influenced by urban and industrial emissions. Nevertheless, measurements at background areas are important for understanding the transport and transformation characteristics of anthropogenic air pollutants, and their effects on various aspects of regional and global environment changes. In this study, we focus on variability of EC and OC concentrations (considering various day categories and seasons) from a rural background site which is representative for Central European rural areas.\n Keywords: organic carbon and elemental carbon; rural background; OC/EC ratio; variability Fulltext is available at external website.

Nanoparticle Generation for Follow-Up Exposure Studies by Oxidation of Copper Acetylacetonate.
Moravec, Pavel; Schwarz, Jaroslav; Vodička, Petr; Švehla, Jaroslav; Kupčík, Jaroslav
2017 - English
The exposure to nanoparticles (NPs) represents a severe problem to human health, because they are becoming more widely used and their number of applications continually increases. Particles containing copper are emitted from smelters, iron foundries, power stations and municipal incinerators (WHO, 1998), as well as from brake linings during braking, Kukutschova et al. (2011). Copper and copper oxide NPs are frequently used as catalysts, heat transfer fluids in machine tools (Kim et al., 2011), inks, anode material in lithium-ion batteries (Guo et al., 2002) and many others. Even though CuO NPs were found highly toxic, Karlsson et al. (2008) and it is likely that NPs enter human body via respiratory tract, the inhalation exposure experiments of CuO NPs with laboratory animals are still rather rare (Pettibone et al., 2008; Lebedova et al., 2016). The exposure chamber for long lasting inhalation experiments was constructed at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry of the CAS (Večeřa et al., 2011) and some methods of NPs generation for these experiments were already tested in our laboratory (Moravec et al., 2015; Moravec et al., 2016a). The generation of Cu/Cu2O NPs by thermal decomposition of copper acetylacetonate (CuAA) was reported by Moravec et al. (2016b) and here we present the results of long lasting generation of NPs by oxidation of CuAA. Keywords: exposure studies; nanoparticle generation; nanoparticle characterization Fulltext is available at external website.

Management stanovišť ohrožených druhů denních a nočních motýlů v České republice
Konvička, Martin; Beneš, Jiří; Spitzer, Lukáš; Bartoňová, Alena; Zapletal, Michal
2017 - Czech
This methodology concerns the care of the biotopes of butterflies (Lepidoptera) included in the Red List of Invertebrates of the Czech Republic. It deals with day and night butterflies from the traditional „Macrolepidoptera“ group. It describes the principles of various types of care for butterfly habitats, and also management principles for particular biotope types. The other part of the methodology defines the areas of the Czech Republic, which are priority for the protection of species of interest. For selected location there is management designed. Keywords: conservation; management; Lepidoptera recent distribution Fulltext is available at external website.
