Štencel, Mikuláš; Janáček, Jiří
2006 - English
Aim of the paper is the chamfer distance transform of the binary digital image in arbitrary dimension and corresponding Lipschitz cover of grayscale image. Validity of the double-scan algorithm is proved. The Lipschitz cover is usefull for elimination of the image background Práce se zabývá důkazem správnosti dvojprůchodového algoritmu pro výpočet digitální vzdálenosti v obrazech libovolné dimenze a použitím téhož algoritmu pro výpočet Lipschitzovy obálky, která je užitečná pro odstranění obrazového pozadí Keywords: chamfer distance; Lipschitz cover; background elimination Available at various institutes of the ASCR

2006 - English
Digital volume reconstruction is a technique for rendering and visualization of a biological specimen which is greater than the field of view of a used optical instrument - a confocal laser scanning microscope in our case. Prior to the volume reconstruction, large biological specimens are cut to thin physical slices. The first step of volume reconstruction is acquisition of sets of digital volume images (spatial tiles which overlap) from all studied physical slices. The second step is composition of neighbouring spatial tiles of the same physical slice. The third reconstruction step is registration and merging of digital volumes of neighbouring physical slices of the specimen. The resulting large digital volumes are rendered and visualized using a VolumePro hardware board that offers real-time 3D volume rendering. In this paper we show a reconstruction of a chick embryonic kidney Objemová rekonstrukce je metoda sloužící k vizualizaci trojrozměrné struktury biologických vzorků, jejichž velikost může být větší než je horizontální či axiální zorné pole snímacího systému (v našem případě laserového konfokálního mikroskopu).Velké vzorky je nutné nařezat na tenké fyzické řezy. Pak se snímají všechny sousedící a překrývající se objemové obrazy v rámci jednotlivých fyzických řezů (kompenzace omezeného horizontálního zorného pole). Takové sousedící obrazy se dále získají pro všechny sériové fyzické řezy (kompenzace omezeného axiálního zorného pole).První krok objemové rekonstrukce představuje složení překrývajících se sousedních zorných polí téhož fyzického řezu. Složené objemové obrazy fyzických řezů je pak nutno složit ve výsledný objemový obraz reprezentující celý biologický vzorek. Výsledný digitální objem jsem vizualizovali s využitím karty VolumePro nabízející 3D zobrazení rastrových dat v reálném čase Keywords: 3D visualization; confocal microscope Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Biologická evoluce versus evoluční systémy: porovnání učení potkana a robota v dynamických prostorových úlohách srovnatelného typu
Telenský, Petr; Jiroutek, P.; Svoboda, Jan; Blahna, Karel; Bureš, Jan
2006 - Czech
Výsledky získané "výcvikem" potkanů resp. robota budou pojednány ve zvláštních kapitolách Ability to adapt to a continuously changing environment is inherent both to natural and artificial "inteligent systems". Our paper presents comparison of spatial learning in the living being (rat) and artifitial object (autonomous mobile robot controled by evolutionary system) using a similarily defined task. Individual chapters are given on rat and robot learning Keywords: spatial cognition; robot; evolution Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Analysis of microcracks in renal cortex and medulla
Tonar, Z.; Janáček, Jiří; Nedorost, L.; Grill, R.; Záťura, F.
2006 - English
Cortex and medula were both damaged after drop shatter test, even in those areas of kidneys, that were free of macroscopic cracks on the surface. The ruptures propagated preferentially through the interstitial connective tissue. The most affected vessels were the arcuate veins followed by the arcuate arteries Nejvýraznější změny kůry a dřeně ledvin po simulovaném traumatu jsou ruptury vedoucí přednostně řídkým kolagenním vazivem. Z cév byly nejvíce poškozené vv. arcutae, poškozené byly i aa. arcutae Keywords: kidney; rupture; stereology Available at various institutes of the ASCR

3D structure of Norway spruce needle mesophyll was studied by confocal microscopa and stereological methods (fakir, point counting, Cavalieri principle). Fresh hand sections 80 micrometers thick proved to be most suitable. The measurement should be restricted only to the middle region of the optical section series Trojrozměrná struktura mezofylu smrkových jehlic byla zkoumána pomocí konfokální mikroskopie a stereologických metod, využívajících virtuální prostorové mřížky. Efficient compensation of the light attenuation with depth in confocal microscopy
Čapek, Martin; Kubínová, Lucie
2005 - English
Images captured by a confocal laser scanning microscope from deep layers of the specimen are often darker than images from the top most layers due to absorption and scattering of both excitation and fluorescent light. These effects cause problems in subsequent analysis of biological objects. Therefore, methods for compensation of the light attenuation with depth must be used Pokles jasu a kontrastu s hloubkou zaostření v konfokální mikroskopii se dá kompenzovat jak optimalizací mikroskopu během snímání, tak pomocí vhodných algoritmů zpracování dat po nasnímání Keywords: confocal microscopy; light attenuation Available at various institutes of the ASCR
