From the dissemination of electronic theses and dissertations to their long-term archiving

2017 - Czech Thesis and dissertations are historical archival materials and need to be treated as such. In 2016 Archive of Charles University initiated a change to their policy regarding thesis submission. Emphasis was placed on usage of formats suitable for long term preservation (especially PDF/A). This presentation primarily focuses on historical development of the Charles University thesis collection (including an analysis of thesis formats submitted from 2006–2016), description of the current submission policy, and integration into the submission process. Závěrečné kvalifikační práce jsou archiváliemi s nespornou historickou hodnotou a jako s takovými by s nimi mělo být zacházeno. V roce 2016 Archiv Univerzity Karlovy inicioval změnu stávajících podmínek pro odevzdávání závěrečných prací. Důraz byl kladen zejména na použití formátů vhodných pro dlouhodobou archivaci (zejména formát PDF/A). Prezentace je zaměřena na historický vývoj sběru prací (včetně analýzy formátů prací odevzdaných mezi lety 2006–2016), na popis podmínek odevzdávání a na jejich implementaci do praxe. Rethinking the Role of Grey Literature in the Fourth Industrial Revolution

2017 - Czech This paper examines the potential impact of the emerging Fourth Industrial Revolution on grey literature and the challenges it will bring to the information management profession. Based on analysis of the most prevalent current trends and developments, it appears we will need to rethink the defi nition of grey literature, its creation and types, processing, storage, sustainability and usability. Information professionals, including the grey literature ones, will require training and new knowledge. Příspěvek zkoumá potenciální vliv nastupující čtvrté průmyslové revoluce na šedou literaturu a také změny, které se promítnou do oblasti informačního managementu. Na základě analýzy současných převládajících trendů se zdá, že bude nutné přehodnotit defi nici šedé literatury a také vše, co s ní souvisí – její vznik, typy, zpracování, archivaci, udržitelnost a použitelnost. Informační specialisté, zejména odborníci na šedou literaturu, budou potřebovat nové znalosti a školení. Changes in the area of extended collective management in relation to memory institutions

2017 - Czech The submitted contribution will focus on the changes brought by the amendment to the Copyright Act (Act No. 102/2017 Coll.) and the relation between extended collective management and memory institutions. In particular, the focus will be given to conservation and teaching purposes and the associated extended collective management. The paper shall analyze the adopted regulation, compare it with the previous state, analyzes its effects and infl uences especially on the GLAM area. Attention will also be paid to the forthcoming changes at the level of the European Union, in particular to the proposal for a Directive on copyright in the digital single market. Předkládaný příspěvek se bude zabývat změnami, které přinesla novela autorského zákona (zákon č. 102/2017 Sb.) ve vztahu rozšířené kolektivní správy k paměťovým institucím. Zejména se bude věnovat výjimce pro konzervační a výukové účely a s tím související rozšířené kolektivní správě. Příspěvek představí přijatou úpravu, srovná ji s předchozím stavem, analyzuje její dopady a vlivy zejména na oblast GLAM. Pozornost bude věnována i připravovaným změnám na úrovni Evropské unie, zejména pak návrhu Směrnice o autorském právu na jednotném digitálním trhu. Institutional Rules and Policies for sharing and storing research data

2017 - Czech The paper aims to provide participants with a practical view on how to adapt the internal policies of research institutions to the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation. Since the Regulation enters force six months after the conference takes place, it can be expected that this issue of readjustment of internal processes to GDPR will be very important for majority of conference participants. With regard to the time and space limit, the paper will focus exclusively on the issues connected with archiving and sharing research data. Emphasis will be put on the rights of research subjects and the public interest in research as an entitlement to process of personal data without consent. Cílem příspěvku je podat účastníkům konference praktický náhled na přizpůsobení vnitřních norem výzkumných institucí požadavkům Nařízení o ochraně osobních údajů. S ohledem na skutečnost, že Nařízení vstoupí v účinnost šest měsíců po konání konference, lze očekávat, že otázka přenastavení vnitřních procesů a pravidel bude pro účastníky konference mimořádně aktuální. S ohledem na časový limit bude příspěvek zaměřen výhradně na problematiku výzkumných dat. Důraz bude kladen zejména na práva výzkumných subjektů a titulu veřejného zájmu na zpracování osobních údajů za účelem výzkumu. Attitudes of Charles University academic staff to data sharing

2017 - Czech Data management and sharing are an integral part of contemporary research work. At Charles University, we carried out a survey of selected aspects of current data management practices and researchers’ attitudes to data management and sharing. In our paper we present a part of its 'results focused on academic staff and comparison of their answers with the answers of doctoral students, interdisciplinary comparisons, selected comments and recommendations based on survey results. Management a sdílení dat jsou v současnosti nedílnou součástí výzkumné činnosti. V rámci Univerzity Karlovy jsme provedli průzkum, který se týkal vybraných aspektů práce s výzkumnými daty a postojů vědců k managementu a sdílení dat. V příspěvku představujeme část výsledků týkajících se akademických pracovníků a srovnání jejich odpovědí s odpověďmi doktorandů, dále mezioborová srovnání u vybraných otázek, vybrané komentáře respondentů a doporučení, která z výzkumu vyplývají. 2017 - Czech The Archive of Fine Arts collects, processes, and provides a large collection of documents pertaining mainly to Czech and Slovak art of the 20th and 21st centuries. We distinguish 200 various types of documents; some of them belong to the category of “grey literature” (e.g., press releases, theses, bibliographies, exhibition catalogues, and annual reports). In our paper, we introduce our collection of grey literature and its processing and archiving in the abART Information System, provided by The Archive of Fine Arts since 1993. We’ll focus on grey literature, searching in the abART system, records linking with all other related information, and availability of documents. Archiv výtvarného umění shromažďuje, zpracovává a zpřístupňuje dokumenty a informace o současném výtvarném umění. V archivu je registrováno téměř 200 různých typů dokumentů, část z nich patří do šedé literatury, např. tisková zpráva, diplomová práce, soupis díla, katalogy z výstav, výroční zpráva aj. V příspěvku představíme naši šedou literaturu a způsob jejího zpracování a ukládání v informačním systému abART, který Archiv výtvarného umění vyvíjí od roku 2003. Situation and intentions in the area of care of sound documents in memory institutions of the Czech Republic

2016 - Czech The paper highlights the plight of the Czech Republic in the area of care for sound cultural heritage. Although this topic has recently appeared in the official state documents, there have been no changes in practice. Some steps were taken by the Moravian Land Library, but we still lack systematic support and, above all, the creation of a methodological center. We are increasingly wasting our time, physically degrading our bearers and threatening to permanently lose their content. The presented model explores the whole range of problems to be addressed and the actors that need to be involved. Příspěvek poukazuje na neutěšenou situaci v oblasti péče o zvukové kulturní dědictví v ČR. V oficiálních státních dokumentech se toto téma sice nově objevilo, avšak v praxi nedošlo k potřebným změnám. Některé kroky vykonala Moravská zemská knihovna, ale stále postrádáme systematickou podporu a hlavně vytvoření metodického centra. Stále více tak ztrácíme čas, nosiše fyzicky degradují a hrozí definitivní ztráta jejich obsahu. Prezentovaný model zachycuje celou šíři problémů k řešení a aktéry, které je nutno zapojit.
