Connections of Posttraumatic Stress and Growth in Childhood Cancer Survivors and Their Parents
Koutná, Veronika; Blatný, Marek; Jelínek, Martin; Vobořil, Dalibor
2021 - Czech
Posttraumatic stress (PTS) and growth (PTG) have been described in both childhood cancer survivors and their parents. This study aims to analyse the parent-child connections in self- reported PTS and PTG as well as the concordance of child self-reported and parent proxy- reported PTG. The sample included 142 parent-child dyads. Both survivors and parents self- reported PTS and PTG. Parents also proxy-reported PTG in their child. Correlations were performed between self-reported measures of PTS and PTG as well as parent proxy-report of PTG in the child. Parent proxy-reports of PTG in their child are more strongly related to parental own PTG than to PTG self-reported by the child. Parental PTS and PTG are correlated, but in survivors, PTS and PTG are not related. Parent proxy-reports of PTG in their child may reflect their own PTG rather than PTG of their child. The relationship between PTG and PTS in the context of childhood cancer differs depending on the reporter (parent/child). Posttraumatický stres (PTS) i rozvoj (PTG) byl popsán u dětských onkologických pacientů i u jejich rodičů. Cílem této studie je analyzovat souvislosti mezi PTS a PTG u dětí a jejich rodičů a zjistit míru shody v posouzení PTG dětí sebeposouzením dítěte a posouzením rodiči. Soubor tvořilo 142 párů bývalých dětských onkologických pacientů a jejich rodičů, kterým byly administrovány metody zjišťující PTS a PTG. Rodiče navíc posoudili i PTG svých dětí. Korelační analýzou jsme zjišťovali vztahy mezi PTS a PTG dětí a rodičů a shodu v sebe- posouzení PTG dětmi a posouzení rodiči. Keywords: posttraumatic stress; posttraumatic growth; pediatric oncology; parent-proxy report Fulltext is available at external website.

Czech Digital Library - a central solution for Czech libraries
Lhoták, Martin
2021 - Czech
The year 2021 has not only accelerated the development of some central tools of Czech librarianship, but has also triggered the need for more conceptual solutions that will ensure the operation of new services and simplify their functioning and access to them. Martin Lhotak's conference paper focused on the form and steps to be taken in providing central access to digital libraries operated in the Czech Republic to serve the public, what strategic considerations are behind its further development and how libraries should be involved in its operation. Relationship of Posttraumatic Stress and Growth with Quality of Life in Childhood Cancer Survivors
Koutná, Veronika; Blatný, Marek; Jelínek, Martin; Vobořil, Dalibor
2021 - Czech
Childhood cancer is an event with the potential for both posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and posttraumatic growth (PTG). While full PTSD is rare in childhood cancer survivors, PTG is common in this population. The relationship between posttraumatic stress (PTS) and PTG has not yet been clearly established, and the relationship between PTG and quality of life (QOL) is unclear. In a group of 188 childhood cancer survivors, we used correlation analysis to determine the relationship of PTS/PTG with specific dimensions of QOL. In the younger group (up to 12 years), the QOL correlated only with PTS, the connection with PTG was not proven. In the older group (from 13 years), QOL correlated with PTS and PTG, but correlations were stronger for PTS. The relationship between PTS and QOL was negative in both groups, the relationships between PTG and QOL in the older group was weakly positive. The relationship of PTG and successful adaptation and good QOL remains questionable. Vztah posttraumatického stresu (PTS) a PTG dosud nebyl jednoznačně prokázán a nejasná zůstává isouvislost PTG skvalitou života (QOL). Na souboru 188 bývalých dětských onkologických pacientů jsme korelační analýzou zjišťovali souvislosti PTS aPTG se specifickými dimenzemi QOL. U mladší skupiny (do 12 let) QOL korelovala pouze s PTS, souvislost s PTG prokázána nebyla. Souvislost PTG s úspěšnou adaptací a dobrou QOL zůstává sporná. Keywords: posttraumatic stress; posttraumatic growth; quality of life; pediatric oncology Fulltext is available at external website.

Is the European Union in line with the Paris Agreement? Assessment of the EU’s 2030 Climate Targets
Balounová, Eva
2021 - Czech
As a part of the European Green Deal, the EU increases its ambitions in climate change mitigation. This contribution assesses the EU’s 2030 climate and energy framework in light of the obligations under the Paris Agreement with a focus on three main targets: the target for CO2 emissions reduction, the target for renewables, and the target for energy efficiency. The obligations under the Paris Agreement are mainly procedural, however, the Parties should aim to hold the increase in the global average to well below 2 °C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 °C. Also, the contributions of the Party should be progressive and reflect its highest possible ambition. Ars nova eloquentiae, its followers and Bohuslaus Balbinus
Svatoš, Martin
2021 - Czech
The paper focuses on the penetration of a new literary aesthetics, the so-called new art of eloquence (nova ars eloquentiae) into literature in the Bohemian lands in the 17th century. The Jesuit teacher of Latin style and literature, Bohuslav Balbín, was the first in the Czech lands to reflect the changed literary situation in his literary theoretical writings and to appreciate the appropriate followers of the art of elocution. At the same time, however, he was a classicist and a follower of M. Tulius Cicero, who warned against the excessive and inappropriate use of the wit.\n Příspěvek se věnuje pronikání nové literární estetiky, tzv. nového umění elokvence (nova ars eloquentiae) do literatury v českých zemích 17. století. Mudra’s Upper Sorbian-Czech dictionary – what can be done about this lexicographic “posthumous child”?
Brankatschk, Katja; Škrabal, M.
2021 - English
Jiří Mudra, among his numerous selfless activities, was a Czech doyen of Sorbian studies. He had been working for decades on an Upper Sorbian-Czech dictionary but, unfortunately, had not finished his work on it at the time of his death. Presently, we are considering completing\nMudra’s project. The material collected by Mudra is undoubtedly valuable for us, providing us with a launchpad for further work, still, it is necessary to challenge it with the current data and a modern lexicographic approach. The paper presents the proposed individual methods\naimed at finishing the main body of the dictionary. Every lexicographer works with the data and tools available in his or her time – and Mudra\nwas certainly no exception. There is, therefore, no reason to maintain exaggerated reverence towards his dataset where it is in apparent conflict with the current language reality. The aim is not to foster Mudra’s cult, but to acknowledge his admirable initiative and enthusiasm. The best way to do so is to complete his dictionary with all the possibilities currently offered to us and make it available – as the first academic dictionary in this language combination – to Czech users. Organizational climate, competing values and employee well-being
Zábrodská, K.; Mudrák, J.; Machovcová, Kateřina; Cidlinská, Kateřina
2021 - Czech
The concept of organizational climate may facilitate an understanding of relationships between work environment and employee well-being. In the paper, we present a research project focusing on organizational climates at academic workplaces and their relationship with employee well-being. We implemented the Competing Values model as the theoretical framework and a mixed-methods research design including large-scale questionnaire study and in-depth interviews. Based on k-means cluster analysis of the questionnaire data, we identified four types of organizational climate (“self-actualizing”, “collegial”, “performance”, “fraternity”) localized in the dimensions of the Competing Values model (flexibility-control, internal-external focus). We found significant differences between the ways in which members of these types perceived their work environment and well-being. Based on the interviews we discuss some psychosocial processes taking place between different organizational climates and employee well-being. Organizační klima představuje koncept umožňující lépe porozumět vztahu mezi pracovním prostředím a „well-being“ zaměstnanců. V příspěvku prezentujeme výzkumný projekt, který se zaměřoval na organizační klima na akademických pracovištích a jeho vztah s pracovním „well-being.“ Ve výzkumu jsme vycházeli z „modelu soupeřících hodnot“ a použili smíšený výzkumný design zahrnující rozsáhlou dotazníkovou studii a hloubkové rozhovory. V kvantitativní části jsme na základě shlukové k-means analýzy identifikovali čtyři typy organizačního klimatu („sebe-aktualizující“, „kolegiální“, „výkonové“, „fraternitní“) lokalizované v dimenzích „modelu soupeřících hodnot“ (flexibilita-kontrola a externí-interní zaměření). Ty se signifikantně lišily v tom, jak odpovídající participanti vnímali své pracovní prostředí a „well-being“. Na základě hloubkových rozhovorů diskutujeme některé psychosociální procesy, prostřednictvím kterých se mohou odlišné typy klimatu podílet na utváření pracovního „well-being“. Rhyme in 16th-Century Hungarian Historical Songs: A Pilot Study
Maróthy, S.; Seláf, L.; Plecháč, Petr
2021 - English
This article presents a computer-based stichometric analysis of 26 Hungarian historical songs from the 16th century. We explore the validity of comments made by Albert Szenci Molnár in 1607 about the poor quality and simplicity of stanza structures in the poetry of previous generations. The study shows how rhyming changed in this poetic genre between 1539 and 1598. In this respect, it is the first work to explore these changes through a quantitative analysis. We find that during the examined period, there was a marked decline in the frequency of rhymes based on the repetition of the same word. At the same time, the tendency to maintain a rhyme across multiple stanzas did not change significantly. Keywords: versification; stylometry; rhyme; Hungarian poetry Available in digital repository of the ASCR
