Contribution of Sigmund Freud to the development of narrative modus of knowledge in psychology and psychoanalysis, which is visible in his archeological metaphor and his approach to construction/reconstruction in psychoanalytic therapy, is explored. Both his ideas are compared with the concepts of historical and narrative truth. Primary narrative structures in Freud’s psychoanalysis are identified and several amplifications of Oedipus myth are offered. Some of recent psychoanalytic narrative approaches are introduced (D. Spence, R, Schafer). V článku je objasněn příspěvek S. Freuda pro rozvoj narativního modu vědění v psychologii a psychoanalýze, který je patrný v jeho konceptu tzv. archeologické metafory i v jeho pojetí konstrukce/rekonstrukce v psychoanalýze. Oba koncepty jsou pojednány v souvislosti s historickou a narativní pravdou. Jsou identifikovány primární narativní struktury ve Freudově psychoanalýze a nabídnuty interpretační amplifikace mýtu o Oidipovi. Uvedeny jsou některé novější psychoanalytické narativní přístupy (D. Spence, R. Schafer).

The author presents the work of Gerd Gigerenzer, Peter M. Todd and members of ABC research group who published the book Simple heuristics that make us smart where they explore fast and frugal heuristics, simple rules for making decisions with realistic mental resources. They enable smart choices to be made quickly and with a minimum of information. Autor prezentuje pohled Gerda Gigerenzera, Petera M. Todda a členů výzkumné skupiny ABC, kteří v roce 1999 publikovali knihu Simple Heuristics That Make Us Smart. Heuristiky chápou jako jednoduchá pravidla, která nám umožňují efektivní rozhodování při využívání omezených mentálních zdrojů. Srovnávali jednoduché heuristiky se složitějšími algoritmy a ukázali, jak simplicita souvisí s robustností.

In the methodological study, the authors propose the classification of the tasks used in the experimental research of visual space perception. Each task has its advantages and limitations. It concerns with the requirements posed on the observers, the level of quantification of the data, the ecological validity of findings, and the danger of the infiltration of judgments by the artifacts. The authors propose to distinguish the metric (exact, euclidean) from the nonmetric (up to ordinal) tasks. All of the differences will be demonstrated on the specific experimental designs. V metodologickém příspěvku se autoři pokouší o klasifikaci experimentálních úloh používaných při výzkumu lidského vnímání prostoru. Každá ze známých úloh má svá specifika a vedle některých výhod a usnadnění její použití provázejí i jistá omezení. Jednotlivé typy úloh se od sebe mohou významně lišit nejen svými nároky na probandy, ale i úrovní kvantifikace získaných dat, způsobem analýzy výsledků, možnostmi při interpretaci zjištění a také ekologickou validitou a rizikem infiltrace nepercepčních vlivů do odpovědí. Autoři navrhují odlišování úloh metrických – kde se od účastníků experimentu žádá exaktní, eukleidovská forma vyjádření vjemu – a nemetrických – kde jsou odpovědi do ordinální úrovně. Zmíněná typolologie bude ilustrována na vybraných úlohách z vlastní experimentátorské praxe.

The effect of relaxation training on the quality of life of elder people

The paper concerns running research of the quality of life of elder people living in the retirement homes. The ways of extension of psychological care of elder people are under consideration and the influence of the specific relaxation training upon the subjectively experienced life satisfaction is to be verified. Práce je věnována tématice kvality života seniorů žijících v penzionech pro důchodce, úvahám o možnostech rozšíření psychologické péče o seniory a praktickému ověření vlivu relaxačně-terapeutického programu na jejich prožívání a spokojenost se životem.

Human mind as a meaning-processing system

The whole human life is full of the continual work with meanings. Without them it would be impossible to have knowledge of outer and inner worlds, to react to the varying conditions, to communicate, to plan etc. Various branches of semantics, semiotics, philosophy or linguistics deal with meaning. Another discipline that should deal with the issues of meaning in a systematic way is psychology. Surprisingly this is not the case even though there are several authors that systematically engage in meaning matters. The paper will present psychological approaches that deal with various meaning topics, both theoretically and methodologically and will try to compare them. Celý lidský život je plný neustálé práce s významy, bez nichž by nebylo možné orientovat se ve vnějším a vnitřním světě, reagovat na měnící se podmínky, komunikovat, plánovat apod. Kategorií významu se zabývají různá odvětví sémantiky, sémiotiky, filosofie nebo jazykovědy. Další obor, který by se otázkám významu měl systematicky věnovat, je psychologie. Kupodivu tomu tak není, přestože několik autorů, kteří se otázkám významu systematicky věnují, existuje. V příspěvku budou uvedeny psychologické přístupy, které se různými otázkami významu zabývají, ať už teoreticky, nebo se snaží různá významová hlediska využívat v rámci nějakého metodologického směru. Bude učiněn pokus o jejich porovnání.

Today, the quality of life is getting quite a frequent attention from researchers. While studying the quality of life in relation to normality and pathology, we usually find quantitative differences. We have also tried to establish the differences in quality, characterized by a greater degree of orientation towards the future in the sick, a smaller ability to describe the quality of life, low levels of self-criticism and self-confidence, passiveness and dissatisfaction Kvalita života je v současné době často zkoumaný problém. Při zkoumání kvality života v rozměru normality a patologie zpravidla nacházíme rozdíly kvantitativní. Pokusili jsme se zjistit rovněž rozdíly kvalitativní, které ukazují u nemocných větší orientaci na budoucnost, menší schopnost kvalitu života popsat, malou sebekritičnost a sebedůvěru, pasivitu a nespokojenost.

Word association test – physiological reactions and semantic similarities

His report is focused on physiological reaction measurements during the word association test. The results of preliminary experiment (N=14) are described. In this experiment association responses, physiological reactions (electrodermal activity) and semantic rating of stimuli were recorded. The obtained results may be visualized on individual level as semantic maps combined with electrodermal activity peaks. Příspěvek se zabývá sledováním fyziologických reakcí při slovním asociačním testu. Shrnuje výsledky pilotního experimentu (N=14), při kterém byly sledovány asociační odpovědi, fyziologické reakce (změny kožního odporu) a sémantické hodnocení podnětů pomocí Testu sémantického výběru. Výsledky umožňují vizualizovat na úrovni jednotlivých osob jejich sémantické mapy spolu s příslušnými intenzitami emocionálních reakcí.

The publication deals with the academic analysis of the field of sport and physical activity as the phenomena of human existence and the means of health. It delineates the position of movement activities within the educational system, including both the educational program for adults and the possibility of utilising movement activities as the means achieving health. The second part of the publication is dedicated to the field of mental hygiene, it processes the academic approaches to negative emotions, stress, anxiety and crisis Bezděčné prožívání radosti z pohybu, ze hry a z tělesných cvičení včetně poznávání sebe sama, svého těla a okolí nám přináší řadu pozitivních chvil v životě. Pomocí jednoduchých cvičení s netradičním náčiním, s netradičními přístupy a s hudebním doprovodem můžeme nacházet cesty k životní rovnováze a k životní filozofii. Psychomotorika rozvíjí všechny stránky osobnosti a pomáhá při prožívání hlubokých prožitků pramenících z vlastních zdrojů osobnosti. Přináší hodnoty zejména v kontextu současnosti, který je charakterizován krizí v prožívání a v prožitkovosti. Psychomotorika nepředává prožitek, pouze nabízí a ukazuje cestu.

The Virtual Being's Mind

Virtual beings are being used in computer games, film industry, education and even in therapy. They need a functional model of mind – to process the signals from environment, to set their goals and to act. In this work we try to define the term of virtual being and to illustrate this concept in one particular project. Virtual beings in IVE Project have three remarkable features: 1) their perception is based on Gibson's theory of affordances, 2) their actions are planned using Belief-Desire-Intention theory, 3) their behavior can be dynamically simplified using Level-of-Detail technique. Virtuální bytosti nachází uplatnění v počítačových hrách, ve filmu, výuce i terapii. Tyto bytosti potřebují svůj funkční model psychiky – potřebují zpracovávat signály z prostředí, stanovovat své bezprostřední cíle a na základě toho jednat. Cílem příspěvku je vymezit pojem virtuální bytosti a ilustrovat na konkrétním projektu – IVE – možnost modelovat chování jednoduchých bytostí. Virtuální bytosti v mají v tomto projektu tři základní charakteristické rysy: 1) jejich vnímání vychází z Gibsonova konceptu afordancí, 2) jejich jednání je rozvrhováno pomocí Belief-Desire-Intention teorie M. E. Bratmana, 3) chování bytostí v odlehlých částech světa je možné zjednodušovat podle Level-of-Detail techniky.
