The restoration of the archaeological ceramics from polyculture funeral locality Vliněves 1999-2007

2010 - Czech This paper presents the basic approach to the archaeological ceramics treatment. Described are the basic methods of ceramics conservation and restoration, like cleaning, joints searching, assembly and fixation, missing parts replacements, corrections of the shape and colour of the replacements, conservation, all recorded in the restoration report, which includes also the list of used materials, full photo documentation and the recommended climate control and regular inspections of the restored ceramics in the deposit storage. Practical demonstration on the ceramics, excavated on the site VLINĚVES (region Mělník) in the years 1999-2007. Tato práce prezentuje základní přístup k ošetřování archeologické keramiky. Zmiňuje se zde základní metodika konzervování a restaurování keramiky od čištění, vyhledávání, lepení, doplňování ztrát, mechanických a barvících retuší, konzervace, až po vypracování restaurátorských zpráv, jejichž obsahem je také přehled použitých pomocných materiálů, kompletní fotografická dokumentace a návrh optimálního klimatického režimu a kontroly stavu ošetřených keramických předmětů v depozitářích. Postupy jsou demonstrovány na keramickém materiálu, pocházejícím ze záchranného výzkumu VLINĚVES 1999-2007, okr. Mělník. Flat-and-lugged axes from the view of metallographer

2010 - Czech Two Hallstatt flat-and-lugged axes (dated to Ha C2 – Ha D1-2) discovered in NW Bohemia have been recently examined by the author. First axe, from Březno u Milešova, was made of piled iron (locally steel) but its cutting edge was treated by carburization and quenching. The second axe, from Nakléřovský průsmyk, apparently reveals the case of steel cutting-edge welding onto an iron axe body. The steeled cutting edge and its tempering evidence advanced tool-making techniques. Both the examined axes belong to the less numerous group of high quality forgings. Nevertheless, regarding all the up to date examined flat-and-lugged axes, hardening of these tools might have been a common practice at the time. Dvě halštatské sekerky s raménky datované do Ha C2 – Ha D1-2, objevené v SZ Čechách, byly nedávno analyzovány autorem článku. První sekerka (z Března u Milešova) byla vyrobena z paketovaného železa (lokálně až oceli) a její ostří bylo nauhličeno a zakaleno. Druhá sekerka (z Nakléřovského průsmyku) zřejmě představuje případ navaření ocelového břitu na železné tělo nástroje. Ocelí opatřená břitová hrana a její popuštění dokládají pokročilou nástrojařskou techniku. Obě analyzované sekerky patří do nepočetné skupiny velmi kvalitních výkovků. S přihlédnutím ke všem dodneška analyzovaným sekerkám (s raménky) se však zdá, že kalení těchto nástrojů mohlo být ve skutečnosti běžné. The summary of results of the present archaeological excavations in the area of the Cistercian cloister in Sedlec by Kutná Hora

2009 - Czech The article is a brief summary of results of the rescue archaeological excavations near the convent church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary in the area of the Cistercian convent in Sedlec by Kutná Hora in years 2004-2008. The author focuses mainly on two new discoveries, which are crucial for the building history, concretely on the coin depot containing Prague Gross of Václav II. and Jan Lucemburský, dating the completion of the chapels in the east side of the convent church to the 2nd decade of 14th century at the latest, and on the partial uncovering of so far unregistered building, with high probability an older Romanesque convent church. Příspěvek přináší stručné shrnutí výsledků série záchranných archeologických výzkumů, které v letech 2004–2008 proběhly u konventního kostela Nanebevzetí Panny Marie v areálu cisterciáckého kláštera v Sedlci u Kutné Hory. Autor se v textu blíže věnuje zejména dvěma novým, pro dějiny stavby klíčovým zjištěním, konkrétně nálezu depotu mincí pražských grošů Václava II. a Jana Lucemburského, který datuje ukončení stavby věnce kaplí, uzavírajícího na východě stavbu konventního kostela, nejpozději v průběhu 2. desetiletí 14. století a odkrytí části doposud neevidované stavby, s největší pravděpodobností staršího románského konventního kostela. 2009 - Czech The article is a brief summary of results of the minor archaeological excavations in years 2004-2006 in the territory of Kutná Hora district with the evidence of settlement or burial activities dated to the Early Middle ages. In addition to description of the respective excavations find contexts, the text provides also the fundamental registration of acquired material. A certain part of the article is dedicated to the insertion of acquired knowledge in the current concept of Early Medieval region settlement and to the comparison of the distinct finds with similar material from other localities. Příspěvek přináší stručné shrnutí výsledků menších archeologických výzkumů z let 2004 až 2006 na území okresu Kutná Hora, u kterých byly evidovány doklady osídlení či pohřbívání datovatelné do období raného středověku. Text přináší kromě obecného popisu nálezových okolností jednotlivých výzkumů také základní evidenci materiálu získaného v jejich průběhu. Určitý prostor příspěvku je pak věnován zasazení získaných poznatků do stávajícího konceptu raně středověkého osídlení regionu a komparaci výrazných nálezů s obdobným materiálem z jiných lokalit. 2009 - Czech Burial ground Klecany I started in the last third of 9th century. It brings also graves of social elite in older phase (warior's grave). S-shaped lockring prevale among women jewellery during the 2nd phase (2nd half of 10th century). Pohřebiště v Klecanech I přineslo doklady pohřbívání příslušníků elity (bojovník, velkomoravské šperky), především ve starší fázi. V mladší fázi (2. pol. 10. stol.) hroby se zbraněmi mizí, mezi ženskými šperky převažují esovité záušnice. Early medieval swords with flattened hemispherical pommel (type of Petersen X / Geibig 12, var. I.). View of archeology and metallography

2009 - Czech Swords with flattened hemispherical pommels (classified as Petersen’s type X and type 12, var. I. according to Geibig) ranked in Europe, since mid-9th century until the mid-11th century, among the most widespread kinds of swords. The contribution shows the possibility to identify used blade-constructions by means of metallography on example of three swords from Great Moravian Stronghold of Mikulčice (arms coming from graves No. 438, 805 and 1347). Meče s jednodílnou polokruhovitou hlavicí řazené k Petersenovu typu X a k I. variantě Geibigova kombinačního typu 12 patřily na evropském kontinentu mezi polovinou 9. a polovinou 11. století k nejrozšířenějším zbraním svého druhu. Příspěvek ukazuje možnosti poznání konstrukce mečů pomocí metalografie na příkladě třech exemplářů z velkomoravských Mikulčic (mečů z hrobů 438, 805 a 1347).
