The use of transgenic plants for the remediation of soils contaminated with cadmium

Study investigates if genetically modified tobaccos have higher ability to accumulate and tolerate cadmium, and to compare their phytoextraction characteristics with other plant species. Pro efektivní fytoremediaci je zapotřebí rostlin nejen s vysokou schopností tolerance a akumulace kovů, ale také s vysokou produkcí biomasy. Jedním z přístupů, jak zvýšit účinnost rostlin při fytoremediaci, je vnesení hyperakumulačních schopností do rychle rostoucích rostlin prostřednictvím genového inženýrství.

Theory and qvantitative evaluation of substituent effects

Some classical problems of the theory of substituent effects were solved in terms of isodesmic reactions when they were based on the properties of isolated molecules instead of on the reactivities in solution. Inductive effect, resonance or steric effect of ortho-substituents were evaluated in this way. Některé klasické problémy teorie substitučních efektů byly rozřešeny pomocí isodesmických rovnic, když byly založeny na vlastnostech izolovaných molekul namísto na reaktivitě v roztoku. Tímto způsobem byl vyhodnocen induktivní efekt, resonance a sterický efekt ortho substituentů.

Five aminopeptidase were detected in the ripening eggs of crayfish Orconectes limosus (Raf.). Naše studie byla věnována studiu enzymů obsažených ve zrajících vajíčkách raka říčního a signálního, a to jak enzymům procházejícím z vnějšího prostředí, tak těm uvnitř vajíček.

The efficiency of soil remediation using microorganisms or plants is low. With the use of genetic engineering it is feasible to manipulate a capacity of organisms to tolerate, metabolize and/or accumulate pollutants. Kontaminované půdy představují pro životní prostředí značné riziko. Biologické metody jejich čištění využívající mikroorganismy nebo rostliny jsou ve srovnání s metodami fyzikálními a chemickými levnější a k životnímu prostředí šetrnější.

Luteinizing hormone (LH) and thyreotropin stimulating hormone (TSH) were isolated and analysed from carp (Cyprinus carpio) pituitaries. V naší práci jsme se zabývali identifikací oligosacharidových řetězců přítomných v molekule LH kapra obecného. Luteinizační hormon (LH) a thyreotropní hormon (TSH) byl izolován z hypofýz kapra obecného (Cyprinus carpio).

Activity of glutamate kinase as stress indicator of plant metabolism was determined and significantly decreased activity mainly after application of higher Cd and Zn levels was observed. Průběh stresové reakce vyvolané u rostliny závisí na intenzitě a délce působení stresového faktoru, ale i na adaptační schopnosti rostliny. Reakcí na stres způsobený zvýšenou hladinou rizikových prvků mohou rostlinné buňky uplatnit ochranné systémy, jako jsou imobilizace rizikových prvků v buněčných stěnách.

Females of Common carp and Grass carp were injected with Ovopel or Dagin in recommended doses. In comparison with a control group, where only dehydrated carp pituitary (41% of succesfully stripped females), the stripping was much higher both with Dagin and Ovopel, in Common and Grass carps. Byla potvrzena účinnost dvou kombinovaných přípravků obsahujících analog GnRH a komplementární látku dopaminergní inhibitor k hormonální indukci ovulace.

The administration of new meansfor propagation in fish, Ovopel and Dagin (combined preparations of GNRH and dopaminergic inhibitors) were found similarly as Lecirelin alone, very effective in inducing the ovulation and succesful stripping (around 90% of succesfully stripped tench females). Byla potvrzena účinnost kombinovaných přípravků lína obsahujících analog GnRH a dopaminergní inhibitor k hormonální indukci ovulace jikrnaček lína. pro použití v praxi lze na základě dosažených výsledků alternativně doporučit, jak použití samotného analogu GnRH, tak kombinovaných přípravků, obsahujících analog GnRH a dopaminergní inhibitor.

Sewage sludge is a potential source of organic matter and nutrients for plants and soil microflora, on the other side it contains potentially hazardous trace elements. Activity of glutamate kinase as stress indicator of plant metabolism was determined in spinach biomass and its increased activity (by 66%) was induced on sewage treatments. Vzhledem k vysokému obsahu organických látek ale i obsahu N, P je snahou využívat čistírenské kaly v zemědělství. Rizikové prvky i organické polutanty obsažené v kalu působí jako stresový faktor rostlinného metabolismu.

Alist of newly found natural GnRH peptides is given. New drugs composed of synthetic GnRH analogues and some dopaminergic inhibitors (Dagin, Ovopel, Aquaspawn) are presented as means for the artificial propagation of fish. Je uveden přehled nově nalezených peptidů podobných jak primární strukturou tak účinkem savčímu GnRH. Jsou presentovány vývojové přípravky obsahující jak synthetické analogy různých GnRH tak některé dopaminergní inhibitory, které nalezly uplatnění v komposici kombinovaných preparátů pro umělý výtěr ryb. (Dagin, Ovopel, Aquaspawn).
