Považská Bystrica: Town with an Erased Genius Loci and Stimuli for its Regeneration

The 20th century was an era of massive urbanization and big projects that changed the landscape. These changes, in many cases, totally changed the image of the environment. One example of such change is the Slovak town of Považská Bystrica and its surroundings, the historical settlement and landscape structure of which was dramatically altered. Inhabitants of the town have still not adapted to the changed structure and therefore it is important to find and recreate places of connections to cutted threads that would once again anchor man in this landscape and man-made environment. 20. storočie bolo érou masívnej urbanizácie a veľkých projektov meniacich tvár krajiny. Tieto zmeny častokrát úplne zmenili obraz prostredia. Príkladom takejto zmeny prostredia je aj slovenské mesto Považská Bystrica a jeho okolie, ktorého historická sídelná a krajinná štruktúra bola porušená a drasticky zmenená. Obyvatelia s novou štruktúrou nie sú zžití a preto je dôležité nachádzať a dotvárať miesta prepojenia pretrhaných nití, ktoré človeka znovu ukotvia, ako v prírode, tak v ľudskom prostredí. The Work of Architects Alois Balán and Jiří Grossmann

After the establishment of the First Czechoslovak republic, many Czech experts settled in Slovakia, including young architects Alois Balán and Jiří Grossmann. In Bratislava, they significantly contributed to the establishment of modern principles with their architectural works, dealt with the regulation of the city and also produced intensive publishing activity. After 1939 they were forced to return to Bohemia, where they continued with their activities. Architects are considered to be important actors of interwar architecture in Slovakia, however they are still not well known in Czech historiography, even though Alois Balán was active on the architectural scene in Moravia. The aim of this paper is to contribute to the complete picture of the phenomenon of Czech architects in Slovakia and to recall the importance of their work for both Slovak and Czech history of architecture. Po vzniku prvej Československej republiky sa na Slovensko prisťahovalo množstvo odborníkov z Čiech, medzi nimi aj mladí architekti Alois Balán a Jiří Grossmann. V Bratislave výrazne prispeli k etablovaniu moderných princípov svojimi dielami, riešili reguláciu mesta, vyvíjali intenzívnu publikačnú aktivitu. Po roku 1939 boli prinútení odísť naspäť do Čiech, kde ďalej pokračovali vo svojej činnosti. Architekti sú na Slovensku považovaní za významných aktérov medzivojnovej architektúry, v rámci českej historiografie sú však doposiaľ málo rozpoznávaní, hoci Alois Balán pôsobil aj na domácej architektonickej scéne na Morave. Zámerom príspevku je doplnenie celkového obrazu fenoménu českých architektov na Slovensku a pripomenúť ich význam z pohľadu slovenských ako aj českých dejín architektúry. Goal of this paper is describing a created program for industrial inspection of correctly made connectors based on computer recognition. Application for detection and recognition is implemented in Python on the Raspberry PI platform using the empirically-known OpenCV library. The result of this work is the algorithm for identifying the correct number of the batch production of the connector which operator can simultaneously checks in the web visualization or historical data in the database. Recognized events are gunshots placed in a background sound such as traffic noise, human voice, animal sounds and other forms of environmental sounds. New Ruralism as an Inspiration for Czech Rural Planning

New Ruralism represents an effort to extend the familiar principles of New Urbanism to non-urban areas with an emphasis on farmland protection. Various sources dealing with New Ruralism (mainly from the North American context) were analyzed using the desk research method. The regulatory and economic instruments of land development were described in detail. Using the example of New Ruralism, it was shown that economic instruments can appropriately complement standard landuse planning instruments even in the case of rural and agricultural planning. This finding can be an inspiration for rural planning in our environment. Hodnotenie vybraných faktorov kvality vnútorného prostredia v LEED certifikovanej administratívnej budove

The presented paper deals with the assessment of the indoor environmental quality (IEQ) in the selected offices of the newly built LEED certified administrative building. The IEQ assessment consisted of monitoring selected IEQ risk factors and a questionnaire survey. The results of IEQ monitoring showed that the monitored offices meet the required legislative and LEED limits. The presence of occupants and cleaning activities have the greatest impact on IEQ in the monitored offices. The users themselves evaluate the IEQ in the offices of this administrative building positively. Overall, the results obtained show that the offices of the relevant administrative building provide a healthy and comfortable indoor environment that does not significantly disrupt the occupant's work performance. Prezentovaný príspevok sa zaoberá hodnotením kvality vnútorného prostredia (IEQ) vo vytypovaných kanceláriách novopostavenej LEED certifikovanej administratívnej budovy. Hodnotenie IEQ spočívalo v monitoringu vybraných rizikových IEQ faktorov a dotazníkového prieskumu. Výsledky monitoringu faktorov IEQ ukázali, že monitorované kancelárie spĺňajú požadované legislatívne a LEED limity. Na IEQ v monitorovaných kanceláriách najviac vplýva prítomnosť užívateľov a upratovacie práce. Samotní užívatelia hodnotia IEQ v kanceláriách tejto administratívnej budovy pozitívne. Zo získaných výsledkov celkovo vyplýva, že kancelárie príslušnej administratívnej budovy poskytujú užívateľom zdravé a komfortné vnútorné prostredie, ktoré výrazne nenarúša ich pracovný výkon. Analýza efektívnosti spriahovacích líšt v drevobetónových konštrukciách

Perforated steel strips as an alternative coupling method of steel-concrete structures have found application mainly in bridge construction, but they are also increasingly used in building structures, where it is necessary to overcome large spans. Due to the absence of complex knowledge, the usage of perforated steel strips in timber-concrete structures does have not reached the level of other types of coupling methods. Numerical simulations can be used to analyse the behaviour of such structures, as well as monitor the stress parameters of individual elements. Based on the results of these simulations, it is possible to evaluate the potential of such structures, as well as other directions of research of timber-concrete structures with perforated steel strips. Spriahovacie lišty ako alternatívny spôsob spriahovania oceľobetónových konštrukcií našli uplatnenie najmä v mostnom staviteľstve, no stále častejšie sa vyskytujú aj v objektoch pozemných stavieb, kde je potrebné prekonávať veľké rozpätia. Použitie spriahovacích líšt v drevobetónových konštrukciách vzhľadom na absenciu komplexných poznatkov nedosahuje úrovne iných druhov spriahovacích prostriedkov. Numerickými simuláciami je možné analyzovať správanie sa takýchto konštrukcií, ako aj sledovať napätostné parametre jednotlivých prvkov. Na základe výsledkov z týchto simulácií je možné zhodnotiť potenciál takýchto konštrukcií, ako aj ďalšie smery výskumu drevobetónových konštrukcií so spriahovacími lištami. Experimentálne overovanie drevených polotuhých prípojov s Alumidi konzolami

This paper deals with experimental verification of semi-rigid timer connections using modern timber connectors Rothoblaas Alumidi. The experiment consists of the loading of timber bracket of structural wood. There are 4 alternatives of connection prepared. Each alternative has 4 specimens. So far, 4 specimens out of a total of 16 specimens have been verified. The paper describes the preparation of the experimental set-up, the loading procedure, the preliminary findings and the results of the performed experiments. These results are confronted with numerical calculations and assumptions of previous theoretical research. Experiment research continues with the testing of additional specimens. Článok sa zaoberá experimentálnym overovaním polotuhých prípojov s využitím moderných spojovacích prostriedkov Rothoblaas Alumidi. Experiment spočíva v zaťažovaní konzoly z konštrukčného dreva. Pripravené sú 4 varianty prípoja konzoly. Každý variant bude skúšaný na 4 vzorkách. Doposiaľ boli overené 4 vzorky z celkového počtu 16 vzoriek. Článok opisuje prípravu experimentálnej zostavy, postup zaťažovania, predbežné zistenia a výsledky uskutočnených experimentov. Tieto výsledky sú konfrontované s numerickými výpočtami a predpokladmi predchádzajúceho teoretického výskumu. Experimentálny výskum pokračuje skúšaním ďalších vzoriek. A typical object on uniform sewer networks are relief chambers, which serve to regulate the flow of rainwater. Their task is to reduce the amount of rainwater supplied to the wastewater treatment plant and thus protect it from overload. These waters are a mixture of sewage and surface runoff water and therefore contain various contaminants. In the city of Trnava, reduced water quality was recorded in the Trnávka recipient. It is therefore necessary to determine the current state of these chambers and to determine whether they comply with current environmental regulations. Typickým objektom na jednotných stokových sieťach sú odľahčovacie komory, ktoré slúžia na reguláciu prietoku dažďovej vody. Ich úlohou je znížiť množstvo dažďovej vody privádzaných na čistiareň odpadových vôd a tým ju ochrániť pred preťažením. Tieto vody sú zmesou splaškových vôd a vôd z povrchového odtoku, a preto obsahujú rôzne kontaminanty. V meste Trnava bola zaznamenaná znížená kvalita vôd v recipiente Trnávka. Je preto potrebné zistiť aktuálny stav týchto komôr a zistiť či spĺňajú súlad s aktuálnymi environmentálnymi predpismi.
