Authors have been dealing since 1986 with the investigation of possible correlations of changes of solar activity and space weather with the incidence of sudden cardiovascular events and their mortality. Autoři se již od roku 1986 zabývají výzkumem možných souvislostí změn sluneční činnosti a kosmického počasí s výskytem náhlých kardiovaskulárních onemocnění a úmrtností na tato onemocnění.

Several utilities for comfortable control of interactive graphical interface

Standard MATLAB libraries do not include some tools for interactive figure processing, even if such functions are common in other graphical programs. Therefore we developed following graphical utilities: i, precise interactive selection of a figure area, ii repetition of a press-button function, iii movement of zoomed figure by slides and iv interactive graphical editor of cursor and button icons. Standardní MATLAB knihovny postrádají některé, v jiných programech běžné, ovládání pro zpracování obrázků. Proto jsme vyvinuli následující grafické nástroje: i přesný interaktivní výběr oblasti obrázku, ii opakování funkce stisknutého tlačítka, iii pohyb zvětšeného obrázku pomocí slidů a iv interaktivní grafický editor kursoru a ikon tlačítek

The paper analyses the successfulness of forecasts of the geomagnetic disturbed days, carried out in the years 2000-2003. A day was considered as disturbed if geomagnetic activity at the Budkov observatory reached the level "active" or higher. V práci je analyzována úspěšnost předpovědí geomagnetické aktivity magneticky porušených dní prováděných v letech 2000-2003. Za porušený byl považován takový den, ve kterém geomagnetická aktivita na observatoři Budkov dosáhla na mezinárodní škále stupně alespoň "active".

Daily numbers of direct coronary angioplastics at acute heart infarctions performed at the 1st Medical Clinic in the Faculty Hospital St. Ann in Brno have been compared with daily values of some quantities of the interplanetary medium. Denní počty provedených direktních koronárních angioplastik u akutních srdečních infarktů na 1. interní klinice Fakultní nemocnice u Sv. Anny v Brně byly porovnávány s denními hodnotami některých veličin meziplanetárního prostředí.

The effect of solar/geomagnetic activity on the distribution of prevailing winds in the winter Northern Hemisphere was analysed in the winter periods of the years 1964-2001. It was found out, that while the strengthening of zonal flow over the winter North Atlantic was associated with high solar as well as geomagnetic activity, the occurrence of the meridional flow over the winter North Atlantic was associated with low solar activity only. V předložené práci byl vyšetřován vliv sluneční a geomagnetické aktivity a fáze QBO na rozložení větrů vanoucích v zimních obdobích let 1964-2001 na severní hemisféře ve výšce 850 mb.Bylo zjištěno, že zatímco zesílené zonální proudění nad zimním severním Atlantikem bylo spojeno s vysokou aktivitou jak sluneční, tak geomagnetickou, meridionální proudění nad zimním severním Atlantikem bylo spojeno především s nízkou aktivitou sluneční.

The authors deal with daily and weekly changes of the incidence of acute myocardial infarctions during 1999-2002 in the town of Brno. The authors have searched for possible differences between this data set and the similar set of infarctions during 1982-1986 from the whole Czech Republic. Autoři se zabývaji denními a týdenními variacemi ve výskytu akutního srdečního infarktu v Brně během let 1999-2002. Autoři hledají možné rozdíly mezi touto skupinou a podobnou skupinou dat z let 1982-1986 z celé České republiky.

A monitoring of the Earth gases emissions was carried out at selected sites in Cechia. Particularly, methan, CO2, SO2, Rn a H2S were investigated. It was proved that neither the chemical composition, nor the emissions themselves can be considered as permanent. They may be affected by geological processes including earthquakes, as well as by man-made activities. Na několika místech v Čechách bylo realizováno monitorování emisí zemních plynů, a to metanu, CO2, SO2, Rn a H2S. Ukázalo se, že ani složení plynů, ani jejich emise nelze pokládat za konstantní a lze očekávat, že mohou být ovlivněny jak geologickými procesy včetně zemětřesení, tak i antropogenní činností

Use of magnetic susceptibility of forest soils for imission mapping in the Krkonoše National Park

Deep soil profiles were investigated in the region of the Krkonoše National Park. Magnetic susceptibility, thermomagnetic analysis, acquisition of remanent magnetisation and hysteresis curves were measured in laboratory on samples from individual soil horizons. The uppermost layer, characterized by enhanced value of magnetic susceptibility, can be reliably identified in all profiles. Hloubkové půdní profily byly magneticky vyšetřovány v oblasti Krkonošského národního parku. Magnetická susceptibilita, termomagnetické, magnetizační a hysterezní křivky pro jednotlivé půdní horizonty byly měřeny v laboratoři. Ve všech profilech lze spolehlivě identifikovat svrchní vrstvu s výrazně zvýšenou hodnotou susceptibility.

V oblasti vymezené městy Ostrava - Opava - Hranice na Moravě bylo uvedeno do provozu pět dočasných seismických stanic. Tyto stanice mají především sbírat data z důlních odstřelů a jevů vyvolaných důlní činností. Odpovídající záznamy budou využity pro inverzní rychlostní model. Silný důlní odstřel v Jakubčovicích byl zaznamenán 8 stanicemi a interpretován Five temporary seismic stations were put into operation in the region delimited by the towns Ostrava-Opava-Hranice na Moravi. These stations are primarily operated in order to collect data from quarry blasts and mining induced events. Corresponding recordings will be used for the velocity model inversion. The occurrence of extreme values of air temperatures during two centuries in Klementinum in Prague

Using tables of maximal temperatures in the day and minimal ones in the night, recorded in Klementinum in Prague between 1775-2000, numbers of warm days and warm nights for each summer, and cold days and cold nights for each winter were determined. Number of warm days during the whole time of observation, especially in the last decades, increases, the other numbers decrease. Z tabulek maximálních denních a minimálních nočních teplot registrovaných v pražském Klementinu v období 1775-2000 byly nalezeny počty teplých dní a teplých nocí v každém létě a studených dní a studených nocí v každé zimě. Počet teplých dní v průběhu celé doby registrace a zvláště v posledních desetiletích roste, ostatní počty klesají.
