Specificity of cyanobacterial microflora in Antarctica

cyanobakteriální mikroflóra Antarktidy je považována za druhotnou. Snadný transport diaspor větrem a lidskou činností (zvláště v posledních dekádách) byl podpořen pracemi různých autorů. Přísun nových kontinentálních cyanobakteriálních spór do Antarktidy existuje, ale nemůže vysvětlit zvláštní stálou rozmanitost antarktických cyanobakteriálních společenstev. V Antarktidě existuje široké spektrum morfo a genotypů, které každoročně tvoří zvláštní společenstva s dominancí adaptovaných druhů, z nichž je mnoho pro Antarktidu endemických. The cyanobacterial microflora of Antarctica is considered to be mainly secondary. The easy transport of diaspores by wind and human activities (particularly in the last decades) was supported by different authors. The continental input of new cyanobacterial spores to Antarctica surely exists, but cannot explain the special stable diversity of Antarctic cyanobacteria. Our studies indicate the specificity and stability of Antarctic cyanobacterial communities. In Antarctica, there exists a wide spectrum of cyanobacterial morpho- and genotypes, which form special communities every year with dominating adapted species, among which numerous Antarctic endemits exist.

Phytogeographic importance of Central European sandstone regions

The importance of flora of the Central European sandstone landscapes is based not on the species richness (alpha diversity) but on the specific composition of flora. The flora of a sandstone region is characterized by a pronounced island environment resulting in frequent occurrence of relic species and isolated occurrences of many species. As a result of high habitat diversity, an unusual combination of various phytogeographic elements is specific to sandstone landscapes, such as atlantic/continental, boreomontane/thermophilous etc. Květena středoevropských pískovcových oblastí je významná nikoli svou bohatostí (alfa diverzitou), nýbrž svým složením. Květena pískovcové oblasti jako celku vykazuje výrazný ostrovní charakter; důsledkem těchto ostrovních jevů jsou výskyty reliktů, isolované výskyty apod. V důsledku vysoké stanovištní diverzity jsou pískovcové oblasti specifické ojedinělými kombinacemi různých fytogeografických elementů, např. oceánické/kontinentální, boreomontánní/teplomilné apod.

The influence of feed protein intake on Nile tilapia ammonia production and consumption of oxygen

This study investigated effects of fish closed in tested ponds with regullary evaluation of pH, oxygen saturation and ammonia concentration. These treatnebts were isoltaed from real environment. Pokusné ryby byly adaptaci přeloveny do speciálních pokusných nádob s pohyblivým víkem, které jsou naplněny čistou (přefiltrovanou) a kyslíkem nasycenou vodou o známém objemu. Víko umožňuje dokonalé uzavření nádoby bez kontaktu s vnějším prostředím. Po nasazení ryb byly nádoby uzavřeny a v pravidelných intervalech byl stanovován v nádobách obsah rozpuštěného kyslíku, pH vody a obsah amoniakálního dusíku. Délka expoziční doby závisela na hmotnosti a počtu nasazených pokusných ryb a byla volena tak, aby na konci pokusu pokles rozpuštěného kyslíku ve vodě nepřesahoval 30% počáteční koncentrace.
