Burial ground Klecany I started in the last third of 9th century. It brings also graves of social elite in older phase (warior's grave). S-shaped lockring prevale among women jewellery during the 2nd phase (2nd half of 10th century). Early medieval swords with flattened hemispherical pommel (type of Petersen X / Geibig 12, var. I.). View of archeology and metallography
Košta, J.; Hošek, Jiří
2009 - Czech
Swords with flattened hemispherical pommels (classified as Petersen’s type X and type 12, var. I. according to Geibig) ranked in Europe, since mid-9th century until the mid-11th century, among the most widespread kinds of swords. The contribution shows the possibility to identify used blade-constructions by means of metallography on example of three swords from Great Moravian Stronghold of Mikulčice (arms coming from graves No. 438, 805 and 1347). Keywords: sword; archaeometallurgy; metallography; Early Middle Ages; Mikulčice Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Evaluation methods of the frequency of the locomotory apparatus injuries
Likovský, Jakub
2008 - Czech
Signs of skeletal injuries represent one of the most frequently described pathological findings in anthropological literature dedicated to past populations. Most often, though, this only involved case reports, which were not correlated with the number of individuals and the state of preservation of the skeletons or individual bones. The frequency of fractures in the population has been studied by several authors in the past decades, and various methods of evaluation have been devised. Keywords: paleopathology; fracture; locomotory apparatus Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Study of Unique Bracelets from Early Bronze Age
Vykouková, J.; Březinová, Helena; Fikrle, Marek; Frána, Jaroslav; Králík, M.; Lutovský, M.; Samohýlová, A.; Smejtek, L.
2008 - Czech
This paper aims to assess two unique bracelets from several points of view, including the history of their discovery, their typological and chronological classification, and analysis of the material from which they were made - above all, analysis of the corrosion layers and surviving textile and human skin imprints, as well as questions of conservation. Keywords: Early Bronze Age; analysis of the corrosion layers; conservation; textile fragments Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Development of forest vegetation of "Bohemian Switzerland" in historical times
Pokorný, Petr; Abrahám, V.; Bobek, P.
2008 - Czech
High-resolution pollen analyses combined with precise radiometric dating of peat profile led to description of local forest vegetation development over last about 300 years. These data were then correlated with historical forestry documentation and anthracological data obtained from relicts of charcoal kilns. Individual stages of anthropogenic degradation of natural forest communities were identified this way. Pylové analýzy s vysokým rozlišením s podporou přesného radiometrického datování rašelinného profilu poskytly data o vývoji lesní vegetace pískovcového skalního území v posledních zhruba 300 letech. Tato data jsme srovnávali s historickými lesnickými záznami a s antrakologickými daty získanými z novověkých milířů v okolí. Podařilo se identifikovat jednotlivé etapy antropogenní degradace původních lesních porostů, která vedla ke vzniku kulturních lesů. Keywords: forest vegetation; palaeoecology; vegetation dynamics Available at various institutes of the ASCR
