Monosaccharide anhydrides, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, hopanes, steranes and monocarboxylic acids were analysed in PM1. Contribution deals with extractions of these compounds from filters, preparations of samples, analyses by GC/MS and discussions of results of analysis. V PM1 aerosolu byly analyzovány anhydridy monosacharidů, polyaromatické uhlovodíky, hopany, sterany a monokarboxylové kyseliny. Příspěvek se zabývá extrakcemi těchto sloučenin z filtrů, přípravami vzorků, analýzami metodou GC/MS a diskusemi výsledků analýz. Present study deals with the analysis of saccharides (monosaccharides, disaccharides and alditols), monosaccharide anhydrides and markers of biomass and wood combustion in atmospheric aerosol and comparison of their concentrations in term of seasons. Studie se zabývá analýzou sacharidů (monosacharidy, disacharidy a alditoly), anhydridů monosacharidů a markerů spalování biomasy a dřeva v atmosférickém aerosolu a porovnáním jejich koncentrací v průběhu jednotlivých ročních období. Unique exposure system for the whole body inhalation experiments with small animals

The especially inhalation chamber is constructed for chronic exposure studies of small animals to nanoparticles under strictly controlled conditions in frame of project „Study of transport of inhalated nano-sized particles (Pb, Cd) and their allocation in organs“. The inhalation chamber builds from a glass and stainless steel and makes possible long-term inhalation procedures (up to 60 days, 24 hours/day) with up to four discrete groups of mice population (up to 60 individuals each) or of rats population (up to 20 individuals each) under controlled illumination, temperature, relative humidity, doses (0.5 x 106 - 5 x 106 particles/cm3) and size (10-60 nm) of nano-sized particles which are synthesized via aerosol route in a hot wall tube flow reactor using metal organic precursors. In this work the organic compounds and organic markers used for the identification of sources of aerosols were monitored. Monosaccharide anhydrides are emitted from biomass combustion, polyaromatic hydrocarbons from traffic and incomplete combustion, hopanes from traffic and coal combustion, steranes from traffic and fatty acids from cooking. V této práci byly sledovány koncentrace organických sloučenin a markerů, které slouží pro identifikaci zdrojů atmosférických aerosolů. Anhydridy monosacharidů pocházejí ze spalování biomasy, polyaromatické uhlovodíky z dopravy a nedokonalého spalování, hopany z dopravy a spalování uhlí, sterany z dopravy a mastné kyseliny z vaření. Seasonal variation in concentrations of metals and ions in urban aerosol in Brno and Šlapanice

Urban aerosol particles in the size fraction PM1 were collected in Brno and Šlapanice in winter and summer of 2009 and 2010. Aerosols were analysed for ions and metals. Local traffic in summer and coal and wood combustion during household heating in winter were identified as the main emission sources of aerosols in both towns. Secondary aerosol components formed a significant part of aerosol during the whole year. Částice městského aerosolu ve velikostní frakci PM1 byly vzorkovány v Brně a Šlapanicích v zimě a létě 2009 a 2010. Aerosol byl analyzován na obsah iontů a kovů. Místní doprava v létě a spalování uhlí a dřeva v rámci vytápění domácností v zimě byly identifikovány jako hlavní emisní zdroje aerosolů v obou městech. Fe3+, Co2+ and Cu2+ were selected as model metals. Charakterizace nové metody pro semi-kontinuální stanovení stopových koncentrací ve vodě rozpustné frakce kovů v atmosférickém aerosolu s časovým rozlišením 30 min.
