General Data Protection Regulation and its Impact on Grey Literature

2016 - Czech In April 2016, the European commission adopted a new General Data Protection Regulation. This regulation is based on fundamental principles of the existing legislation and elaborates it further into the set of rather detailed legal instructions. The suggested paper aims to summarize the parts of the new regulation that are most relevant for operators of gray literature repositories, who will have to adapt within the next two years. The paper will focus on the issues of consent to the processing of personal data, the legal regime of processing personal data without the consent of the data subjects, the data subject’s right to information as well as the legal regime of acquisition of personal data by third parties and exercise of the newly formulated right to be forgotten. V dubnu 2016 bylo přijato nové obecné nařízení o ochraně osobních údajů, jež v zásadních principech vychází ze stávající právní úpravy, v mnohém ji však rozvádí a konkretizuje. Příspěvek má převážně přehledový charakter a zaměří se na novou úpravu povinností, jimž se budou muset správci repozitářů v horizontu nejbližších dvou let přizpůsobit. Příspěvek bude věnován zejména otázkám souhlasu se zpracováním údajů, informovanosti subjektu údajů, přebírání osobních údajů od třetích stran, možnostech zpracovávat a zveřejňovat některé osobní údaje i bez souhlasu dotčených osob a nově formulovanému právu být zapomenut. The Catalogues of Records Companies of Early 20th Century

2016 - Czech Grey literature often contains documents such as publisher or corporate catalogues. Included among these are catalogues of record companies, which provide evidence of all the sound documents issued for sale. Recordings are part of the collections of many institutions, but few of them also own these secondary information resources. Therefore, they are not able to contribute to the overall view of the cultural heritage of the era when the gramophone industry began and developed rapidly. Pojmem šedá literatura je možné označit také dokumenty typu nakladatelské či firemní katalogy. K takovým patří také katalogy gramofonových firem, které přinášely svědectví o produkci zvukových dokumentů, resp. nahrávek. Tyto nahrávky jsou dodnes součástí sbírek řady institucí, avšak žádná z nich nevlastní tyto sekundární informační zdroje a není proto schopná přispět k celkovému pohledu na kulturní dědictví doby, kdy se gramofonový průmysl začal bouřlivě rozvíjet. 2016 - Czech The digital transformation has had a tremendous impact on graduate research workflows and output. Most theses are submitted as ETDs, although the share varies by country and by subject. Universities worldwide are running institutional repositories to showcase new graduate research, as well as recently digitized material. The presentation will highlight studies on dissertation and theses usage on repositories as well as giving insights into ProQuest’s unique dissertations and theses analytics. Digitální revoluce podstatně ovlivnila postgraduální výzkum včetně příslušných pracovních postupů a konečných výstupů. Většina závěrečných prací je odevzdávána v elektronické podobě, i když se podíl takových prací liší v jednotlivých zemích a podle oboru. Univerzity po celém světě provozují institucionální repozitáře, ve kterých zpřístupňují nové výsledky postgraduálního výzkumu i starší zdigitalizované práce. Prezentace představí několik studií sledujících využívání kvalifikačních prací v repozitářích a také analytické nástroje ProQuestu vytvořené ke stejnému účelu. 2015 - Russian The Manuscriptorium Digital Library is Europe’s largest digital library of manuscripts providing access to data from more than 120 institutions across Europe incl. ca. 55 most important Czech collections. In March 2015, it contained 43,372 fully digitized documents and more than 337,000 bibliographic records. The documents are not only of European origin (Western, Slavonic, Hebrew, Armenian ...), but there are also data representing Arabic, Persian, Ottoman, Indian and other manuscript traditions. The digital library was launched in 2003 by the National Library of the Czech Republic, in partnership with the Czech AiP Beroun Company. In comparison and in contrast with other aggregation services, it provides seamless access to full digital documents on the fly, reusing thus repositories of partner digital libraries. Users do not need to travel or to navigate from one physical place or digital library to another one to access needed documents. Manuscriptorium provides uniform interface to any data from any digital library that signed the partnership agreement. The internal metadata solution is based on the robust TEI P5 approach and suits both library and researchers’ requirements for description and structuring. It aggregates not only fully digitized documents, but also the partially digitized ones and bibliographic records. It contains manuscripts as well as old printed books, historical maps, and historical posters. The documents are mostly represented by digital images and in certain extent also by full texts, TEI-structured and unstructured. The Manuscriptorium larger environment provides also online support to TEI authoring and online metadata validation and upload. ... Legal aspects of primary scientific results

2015 - Czech This contribution focuses on the legal aspects of raw grey literature that is understood as yet to be published, interim or incomplete scientific results like raw primary data or drafts of scientific articles. Specifically the contribution deals with two problematic areas: 1) liability for damages resulting from inadequate (or even forbidden) use of the results and possibilities of limitation thereof; 2) ownership of such grey literature and contractual possibility to dispose therewith after it has been offered to official publication (i.e. the copyright issues of pre-prints, post-prints and publisher’s edition). Tento příspěvek se zaměřuje na právní aspekty surové šedé literatury, která je chápána jako dosud nepublikované, prozatímní nebo nekompletní vědecké výsledky jako např. primární výzkumná data nebo pracovní verze vědeckých článků. Konkrétně se příspěvek zabývá dvěma problematickými oblastmi: 1) odpovědnosti za újmu vyplývající z nedostatečného (nebo dokonce zakázaného), využívání výsledků a možnostech omezení této odpovědnosti; 2) majetkovými právy k takové šedé literatuře a smluvním možnostem nakládat s ní poté, co byla nabídnuta k publikaci (tj. i otázky autorských práv k pre-printům, post-printům a vydavatelským verzím vědeckých článků).
