The workshop proceedings include 18 original papers dealing with lifetime of materials and structural parts. Modern methods of lifetime evaluation under conditions of fatigue and some other types of loading are presented in the proceedings. Obsahem konferenčního sborníku je 18 původních příspěvků věnovaných životnosti materiálů a konstrukčních částí. Ve sborníku jsou prezentovány moderní metody predikce životnosti v podmínkách únavového a dalších typů zatěžování.

The proceedings of the 2nd konference of PhD students Multiscale design of advanced materials

Papers contributing to the solution of multilevel investigation and design of materials prepared either by members of doctorate team and PhD student investigating separately on the same institutions engaged in solution of doctorate project of Czech Science Foundation are contained in the proceedings. The contributions are oriented on theoretical and experimental aspects of materials designs arising form different approached from first principles up the continuum mechanics. Ve sborníku jsou obsaženy práce přispívající k řešení problematiky víceúrovňového studia materiálů připravené jednak členy doktorského týmu a jednak doktorandy pracujícími samostatně na pracovištích zapojených do řešení doktorského projektu GAČR 106/05/H008. Příspěvky jsou orientovány na teoretické a experimentální aspekty designu materiálu vycházející z přístupů od prvoprincipiálních po mechaniku kontinua.

Transferability of Fracture Mechnaical Characteristics

Comprehensive review of proved recent methods for transfer of fracture mechanical characteristics from smaller to standard specimen geometry is supplied thinking at the same time on transferability of these characteristics from laboratory experiments to real components. Application procedures for local approach, master curve methodology, toughness scaling models, dynamic fracture properties and notch sensitivity are workout and discussed.
