Sborník obsahuje příspěvky, které byly prezentovány na 4. workshopu doktorandů, který se konal na Ústavu geoniky AV ČR. V letošním roce se workshop konal paralelně na ústavu v Ostravě a na pobočce ústavu v Brně, která je sídlem oddělení environmentální geografie. These proceedings contain contributions presented at the fourth Ph.D. Workshop of the Institute of Geonics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic held in this year simultaneously in Ostrava and in Brno on November 19, 2009. Ph.D. training belongs among the most important activities not only of the universities but also of the institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Note that in total more than 2000 Ph.D. students are being trained at the institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences. It guarantees that the knowledge and experience from the research will be forwarded and extended, which is of principal importance for the development of the research and the whole academic system.

Conference Water Jet 2009 - Research, Development, Application, which is organized by the Department of material disintegration of the Institute of Geonics of the ASCR, v. v. i., is the first meeting of producers, users, designers and other people interested in technology of high speed water jet in the Czech Republic. The main objective of the conference is to provide forum for exchange of knowledge, information and experiences in areas of research, development and application of water jet. Although the conference was originally intended as a more or less local meeting of experts from the Czech Republic, a number of foreign participants proves that this issue is very attractive far beyond the borders of the CR. Problems solved in contributions are very diverse: they range from basic research through traditional and less traditional application of technology in practice to reflection on the impact of the current economic crisis on job shops. Konference Vodní paprsek 2009 - výzkum, vývoj, aplikace, která je organizována Oddělením desintegrace materiálů Ústavu geoniky AV ČR, v. v. i., je prvním setkáním výrobců, uživatelů, tvůrců a zájemců o technologii vysokorychlostního vodního paprsku v České republice. Hlavním cílem konference je poskytnout fórum k výměně názorů, informací a zkušeností v oblastech, které se týkají výzkumu, vývoje a aplikace vysokorychlostních vodních paprsků. I když byla konference původně koncipována jako víceméně lokální setkání odborníků z České republiky, množství zahraničních účastníků jen dokazuje, že tato problematika je velmi atraktivní i daleko za hranicemi ČR. Okruhy řešené v příspěvcích jsou velmi rozmanité: od základního výzkumu přes tradiční i méně tradiční aplikace technologie v praxi až po zamyšlení nad dopady současné ekonomické krize na zakázková pracoviště. Pevně věřím, že toto setkání obohatí všechny zúčastněné o nové poznatky, které později uplatní ve svém profesním životě.

Seminář numerické analýzy 2009 (SNA ´09) je již šestým setkáním, z nichž první se uskutečnilo v roce 2003. Je věnován problematice numerických metod využívaných při matematickém modelování v řadě vědních oborů a stavitelství. Seminar on Numerical Analysis 2009 (SNA’09) is the sixth meeting of a series of events started in Ostrava 2003 and devoted to numerical methods necessary for mathematical modelling of problems in sciences and engineering. In this respect, it was natural that in period 2005 - 2008 the SNA conferences became a part of the project MSTEP (http://www2.cs.cas.cz/mweb/) Modelling and simulation of complex engineering problems: effective numerical algorithms and parallel implementation using new information technologies within the program Information society administrated by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. We hope that the tradition of SNA conferences will be preserved even after finishing the MSTEP project in 2008.

The 7th Czech - Polish conference on the coal basins geology represents a traditional meeting of specialists, mainly from CR and Poland. Within the frame of the conference there are presented papers concerned with wide problems - coal basins characterization, sedimentary progression and structural geology of the coal basins, stratigraphy, petrography of rocks and coal, physical and chemical properties of coal and rocks, palynology, creation of digital models of the coal basins. 7.česko - polská konference o geologii uhelných pánví je tradičním setkáním odborníků zejména z ČR a Polska. V rámci konference jsou prezentovány příspěvky zabývající se velmi rozsáhlou problematikou - popisem uhelných ložisek, sedimentárním vývojem a tektonikou v uhelných pánvích, stratigrafií, petrografií hornin a uhlí, fyzikálními a chemickými vlastnostmi uhlí a hornin, palynologií, tvorbou digitálních modelů uhelných ložisek.

Hlavním cílem Workshopu bylo zveřejnit studium a práci doktorandů a jejich školitelů na Ústavu geoniky AV ČR.Témata presentují širokou rozmanitost problémů řešených na Ústavu geoniky. Problémy zahrnují vlastnosti geomateriálů, studování geomechanických, geodynamických a geofyzikálních vlivů, vývoj metod matematického modelování a problémy environmentální geografie. The main aim of the Workshop is to bring Ph.D. students studying and working or having their supervisors at the Institute of Geniocs AS CR.The topics presented at the workshop reflect wide variety of problems solved at the Institute of Geonics. These problems comprise propertiesd of geomaterials, studying geomechanical, geodynamical and geophysical effects, development of mathematical modelling methods and problems of environmental geography.

Effects of Constructional Vibrations Induced by Shallow Tunnelling upon Urban Areas

Generally, the most intensive seismic effect is generated in cases when blasts were used as part of technology. This paper deals with description of experimental seismic measurements that were performed during construction of underground spaces. All of presented studies were concentrated on shallow urban tunnelling. Největší seizmický efekt vyvolávají trhací práce, jež jsou součástí technologie ražby mělkých podzemních děl. Ve článku jsou popsána experimentální seizmická měření, která byla prováděna v průběhu ražby uvedených děl. Vybrané příklady jsou zaměřeny především na vedení mělkých důlních děl v městské zástavbě.

Seminář numerické analýzy (SNA´07) je čtvrtým setkáním v řadě, která začala v roce 2003. SNA´07 je třetím setkáním, které se koná na Ústavu geoniky AV ČR v Ostravě. Při této příležitosti si připomínáme, že ústav byl založen v roce 1982, což neznamená jen 25 let práce na ústavu, ale také 25 let výzkumu metod matematického modelování a vytvoření badatelské skupiny, která se zúčastňuje setkání na SNA. Stalo se tradicí, že SNA je kombinací semináře a Zimní školy, což činí atraktivní program pro širší oblast badatelů. Seminar of Numerical Analysis 2007(SNA´07) is the forth meeting of a series started in 2003. SNA´07 is the third of the SNA meetings, which is held at the Institute of Geonics AS CR Ostrava. At this occasion, we would like to mention that the Institute was founded in 1982, which means not only 25 years of work of the Institute but also 25 years of research in mathematical modelling methods and creating a research group that is taking part in organizing SNA meetings. As become a tradition, SNA´07 is a combination of winter school and seminar, which makes the program attractive for a broad range colleagues.
