Redox equilibria of sulphur in glassmelts

The combination of experimental and computational methods used for the study of redox equilibria of sulphur in glassmelts makes possible to reveal mechanism and time sequence of redox phenomena taking place during melting process. Both methods were applied for the optimization of sc. reducing sulphate refining realized by the addition of sulphate and reducing agent to the glass batch. The results of experiments supported by the model calculation showed that proper combination of both components at the same time improves homogenization and refining of glass melt and suppresses unwanted bubble nucleation at maximal melting temperatures. Chemické čeření zprostředkované přídavky několika typů čeřicích činidel je dosud nejběžnějším způsobem odstrańování bublin z tavenin skel. Mezi čeřicími činidly používanými v současnosti hrají významnou roli sírany alkalických kovů či kovů alkalických zemin, které jśou téměř výhradně používány pro čeření základních průmyslových tzpů sodnovápenatokřemičitých skel - plochého, obalového a ve značné míře i užitkového.

More then 60 % of data used in decision-making processes come from chemical analyzes are produced. Analytical laboratories are nowadays forced to be ready to declare its reliability, confidence and credibility. Application of such care for quality brings extra cost and increases the price of analysis. Laboratories must take into account experience expressed in saying: Quality assurance is expensive business but up to the time when laboratory loses its first lawsuit. Doping in sport, as described in series of articles mentioned, was interesting demonstration of the uncertainty role in decision making process. Rozhodovací procesy v oblasti obchodu, životního prostředí, zdravotnictví jsou v celku z více než 60% závislé na chemických analýzách. Současný přístup nastoluje nutnost, aby laboratoře svou důvěryhodnost, spolehlivost a věrohodnost byly neustále připraveny prokazovat. Uplatnění takové péče o jakost něco laboratoř stojí, což se nutně musí promítnout do ceny analýzy. Laboratoře musí mít při svém rozhodování na paměti zkušenost vyjádřenou slovním spojením äZabezpečování jakosti je drahou záležitostí, ale pouze do té doby, než laboratoř prohraje první soudní spor'. Série článků věnovaná dopování ve sportu byla zajímavou demonstrací, jakou klíčovou roli hraje nejistota výsledků při rozhodovacím procesu v této oblasti.

Chemické a strukturní vlastnosti ZnO jsou důležité faktory při jeho aplikacích, které závisejí od rozdílného způsobu přípravy. V katalytických aplikacích jsou důležité vlastnosti povrchu ( měrný povrch a porosita), při aplikaci jajo pigment je nejdůležitější moŞfologie částic ( velikost a tvar).

Mica pigment with oxide-hydroxide layer of different metals, such as Ti, Cr, Fe, Al, Co, Ni, Zn, and Cu. Mica coloured flakjes were covered by homogeneous precipitation of metal sulphates with urea in an aqueous environment at temperatures 95-98 grad C. Reakcí síranů některých kovů ( Ti, Cr, Fe, Al, Co, Ni, Zn ) s močovinou ve vodném prostředí za zvýšené teploty je možné na povrchu slídy vyloučit vrstvičku hydroxidů kovů, která tepelnou úpravou přejde na vrstvu oxidů.

The origin and forms of titanium in historical and modern paintings

Baseline identification of pigments is not sufficient for the description of technical style of painting and its authentication. Qualified interpretation of the stratigraphy of colour layers accompanied by the description of their microstructure is only able to help with the evaluation of origin and authenticity of the painting. Wide comparative database and close cooperation of scientists, restorers and art historians is always necessary. Diversity of forms, in which titanium occurs in nature, could be given as an example documenting the necessity of highly professional and sensitive approach to data within this research area. Základní identifikace pigmentů nepostačuje k posouzení technické výstavby malířského díla, natož k posouzení jeho autentičnosti. Teprve kvalifikovaný výklad stratigrafie vrstev a popis jejich mikrostruktury opřený o správnou interpretaci výsledků různých analytických metod je zárukou, že materiálový průzkum přispěje k posouzení původu nebo pravosti malířského díla, a to jen v úzké součinnosti a spolupráci přírodovědců s restaurátory, uměleckými znalci a historiky. Navíc musí být podepřen systematickým sběrem srovnávacího materiálu. Rozmanitost forem, v nichž se může vyskytovat titan v barevné vrstvě, jen dokumentují nutnost vysoce kvalifikované práce a citlivého zacházení s výsledky.
