Limits of 10 GE transmission using PC LAN adapters

In this contribution, we present experimental results on amplification of 10GE signále in the 1310nm wavelength range with respect to application of PC LAN adapters in metropolitan area networks. V příspěvku jsou prezentovány experimentální výsledky zesilování 10GE signálů v pásmu 1310nm s ohledem na použití PC LAN adaptérů v metropolitních sítích.

Tomographic calculation of the refractive index profile of non-circular symmetric optical fibre performs is shown on preform for double clad pumping fibre lasers and amplifiers. V příspěvku je ukázána tomografická rekonstrukce profilu indexu lomu na preformě určené pro pláštěm čerpané vláknové lasery a zesilovače.

Access to high-speed Internet via small and medium CATV networks

In the Czech Republic the CATV networks play an important role in provisioning access to broadband Internet. It is a natural supplement to the service of TV and radio broadcasting while based on IP protocol also the basic telephony service can be cheaply provided. In the paper various aspects of providing access to broadband Internet over small and medium CATV networks that are deployed mainly in small towns and villages are discussed. V České republice se televizní kabelové rozvody výrazně podílejí na poskytování přístupu k vysokorychlostnímu internetu. Je přirozeným doplňkem služby šíření televize a rozhlasu, přičemž na základě IP protokolu umožňuje levně poskytovat i základní telefonní službu. V příspěvku jsou diskutovány různé aspekty poskytování přístupu k vysokorychlostnímu internetu prostřednictvím malých a středních rozvodů kabelové televize budovaných zejména v menších městech a obcích.

Chromatic dispersion characterization of the microstructure optical fibres /MOF/ using the interferometric method is shown on several fibre samples. The differences from the measurement of standard single mode fibres are discussed. V příspěvku je na několika příkladech popsána charakterizace chromatické disperze MOF /mikrostrukturních optických vláken - Microstructure optical fibres/ interferometrickou metodou a jsou uvedeny odlišnosti od měření disperze standardních optických vláken.

Modelling of optical microresonators

The contribution outlines modelling techniques for analysis of microresonator-based integrated optical components. A principle of modelling of the time domain characteristics with the help of the spectral characteristics including influence of nonlinear optic effects is carried out. Results applicable in the field all-optical devices are shown. Příspěvek přibližuje modelovací techniky pro analýzu integrovaně optických komponent založených na aplikaci optických mikrorezonátorů. Je nastíněn princip modelování časových průběhů zpracovaných signálů s využitím spektrálních charakteristik, včetně modelování vlivu nelineárních optických jevů. Jsou předvedeny výsledky těchto modelů pro potřeby plně optických systémů.

Basic concepts such as time interval, time scale and synchronization encountered in metrology of time and frequency are introduced. Attention is paid to frequency staility. Also described are the methods of accurate time transfer applicable in the territory of the Czech Republic /GPS, DCF long-wave transmission, internet/. Uvádějí se základní pojmy /časový interval, časová stupnice, synchronizace atd./, s nimiž se setkáváme v metrologii času a frekvence. Hlavní pozornost je věnována frekvenční stabilitě. Popsány jsou rovněž metody přesného časového transferu použitelné na území ČR /GPS, dlouhovlnné vysílání DCF, internet/.

Ballistic electron emission measurements of InAs/GaAs quantum dots in AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures are presented in our contribution. Measured heterostructure was prepared by MOCVD technique. The area of 1 μm.sup.2./sup. was analyzed during measurements. Different size and shape of quantum dots on an examined area were vizualized. The average size of quantum dots were 10 nm and less. The observed shapes are probably connected with density of states in quantum dots. Jsou prezentována balistická elektronová emisní měření InAs/GaAs kvantových teček v AlGaAs/GaAs heterostruktuře. Měřená struktura byla připravena MOCVD technikou. Při měřeních byla analyzována plošná oblast 1 μm.sup.2./sup. Na analyzovaných oblastech byly zviditelněny a změřeny různé velikosti a tvary kvantových teček. Obvyklá velikost kvantových teček byla přibližně 10 nm a méně. Pozorované tvary zřejmě souvisí s hustotou stavů v kvantových tečkách.

Lasers based on the double-clad fibers fabricated in IREE AS CR

In this artical the fiber lasers using double-clad fibers as an active medium, fabricated in IREE AS CR are presented. This fibers are doped by erbium and ytterbium ions with different concentration ratio. These fibers have also different lateral structure like refractive index profile or material of secondary cladding. For these fibers the optimal lenght, maximum power and efficiency of linear resonator in configuration without external reflected components were found. V článku jsou prezentovány výsledky dosažené s vláknovými lasery, jejichž aktivní prostředí tvoří dvouplášťová vlákna k tomu účelu vyvinutá v ÚRE AV ČR. Tato vlákna jsou dopována ionty erbia a yterbia v různých koncentračních poměrech. Odlišná je i příčná struktura vláken - profil indexu lomu, materiál sekundárního pláště. Pro tato vlákna byla hledaná optimální délka, maximální výkon a účinnost pro lineární rezonátor v konfiguraci bez externích reflexních prvků.

Crystal growth from low-temperature solutions - theory and experiments

Growth of crystals from low-temperature solutions belong to extended methods to acquire of high quality single crystals. Presented work reports the basic theories of crystal growth from solutions and shows their applications to optimization of crystal qrowth conditions where goal is preparation of high quality of single crystals. Next are shown experimental results of preparation of optical non-linear crystals for optoelectronics obtained at crystal growth laboratory of IREE AS CR. Růst krystalů z nízkoteplotních roztoků patří mezi velice rozšířené metody získávání kvalitních monokrystalů. Předložená práce uvádí základní teorie růstu krystalů z roztoků, ukazuje jejich použití v analýze mechanismu růstu a následně pro užití k optimalizaci růstových podmínek s cílem přípravy krystalů vysoké strukturní kvality. Dále jsou uvedeny konkrétní výsledky experimentálního studia růstu opticky nelineárních monokrystalů pro optoelektroniku, získané v laboratoři pro růst krystalů ÚRE AV ČR.
