Roma ethnic and sport: perception, benefits and barriers

This paper is based on analyze of two sociological studies done among professional sportsman and Roma youths. This piece points at the raising importance of sport in the daily life of young generation. There is also mentioned the big impact of social actors on setting up the positive attitude to sport. The article is discussing the perception of sport activity, its evaluation from the minority point of view. The paper is also considering the limits of sport activity and discriminatory conditions. Vztah romského etnika ke sportu je dosud nezkoumaný sociální jev. Příspěvek je založen na analýze dvou sociologických šetřeních zaměřených na romské výkonnostní sportovce a na romskou mládež. Text poukazuje na nárůst důležitosti sportovní aktivity v životě mladší generace Romů a na vliv sociálních aktérů na utváření tohoto vztahu. Dále se zabývá vnímáním sportovní aktivity mezi romskou mládeží, hodnocením jejích přínosů, ale i jejích negativních efektů a omezeních.

Paradoxes of Fatherhood after Marital Separation

The separation of parental couple has two main consequences for the relation of father and his children and for the performance of his parental role. On one hand it is the „bifocalization“ of the household, and on the other the loss of the mediation of the father-child relationship by the mother. Rozchod rodičovského páru má dva zásadní důsledky pro vztah otce s jeho dětmi a pro performaci jeho otcovské role. Na jedné straně je to „bifokalizace“domácnosti, a na druhé straně ztráta zprostředkování vztahu mezi otcem a dětmi jejich matkou.

Sexual Harassment as an Obstacle of Equal Opportunities

Sexual harassment presents one of the key elements implicating gender inequalities on the labour market which is connected with other social and political mechanisms and thus directly affect possibilities to promote equal opportunities of women and men in society. The author focus on critical analysis of the phenomenon of sexual harassment in its broader context of institutionalized cultural value patterns which prevent women to participate as equal on the life of society. She supports her arguments by the empirical research realized by the Gender & sociology Department, Institute of sociology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic which mapped occurrence of sexual harassment and its perception by individual actors at the working place in the Czech Republic. Sexuální obtěžování představuje jeden ze zásadních faktorů způsobujících genderové nerovnosti na trhu práce, který je komplexně propojen s dalšími sociálními a politickými mechanismy ovládajícími sféru práce, a proto přímo působí na možnosti prosazování rovných příležitostí mužů a žen. V článku se autorka zaměřuje na kritickou analýzu fenoménu sexuálního obtěžování v širším rámci institucionalizovaných kulturních hodnotových vzorců, které ženám znemožňují rovnoprávně participovat na životě společnosti. S odkazem na empirický výzkum realizovaný oddělením Gender & sociologie AV ČR, který v České republice zmapoval výskyt sexuálního obtěžování a přístup jednotlivých aktérů zaměstnaneckých vztahů k tomuto jevu, poukazuje na jeho příčiny související zejména se stereotypními schématy vnímání a hodnocení.

In 2003 there were 4 development scenarios of the city Kladno up to 2028: Klondyke, Burned Land, Well-being and Prosperity. A collapse of city government during the first years is a main feature of the scenarios Klondyke and Burned Land. The values of the indicators of good governance that have been observable in Kladno after four years suggest that these two scenarios cannot come. V roce 2003 byly vytvořeny 4 scénáře vývoje města Kladna do roku 2028: Klondike, Spálená země, Pohoda, Prosperita. Kolaps veřejné správy je hlavním rysem prvních let scénářů Klondyke a Spálená země. Na základě hodnot indikátorů dobrého spravování města, které jsou pozorovatelné v Kladně po čtyřech letech, lze odhadnout, že tyto dva scénáře nenastanou.

The paper reveals mechanisms of re/production of gender in/equalities in the families with caring fathers. It examines when gender equality is (or can be) achieved in families and what the relationship is between gender equality in the family and gender inequality in wider society. Článek se zaměřuje na re/produkci genderových nerovností v rodinách s pečujícími otci. Klade si otázku, kdy k nastolení genderové rovnosti v rodinách dochází (či může dojít) a jaký je vztah mezi genderovou rovností v rodině a genderovou nerovností v širší společnosti.

Remarks to problem of correct interpretation of party preferences

The article points to the problematic interpretation of electoral polls provided by media, using some examples from Czech press. Journalists are not able to differentiate within various types of polls and their interpretations of poll outcomes are sometimes incorrect. In some cases therefore the psychological effect of legal threshold coupled with media campaigning based on the misinterpretations of preferences can influence voters decisions. Stať upozorňuje na problém špatné interpretace výzkumů volebních preferencí v českých médiích. Žurnalisté často nerozlišují mezi různými typy výzkumů a jejich interpretace výsledků jsou pak zavádějící. V určitých případech proto může psychologický efekt uzavírací klauzule kombinovaný s mediální dezinterpretací volebních preferencí ovlivnit voličské rozhodování.

Attitudes of the Czech borderland towards Germany

The article comparing results of opinion poll of attitudes of Czechs towards Germans, some aspects of Czech-German cooperation along and cross the border. It´s generally apparent the trend of steadily increasing trust towads Germany including diminishing fear of German dominance. In comparison of milieu along the Bavarian and Saxonian part of the border there are recorded differences stemming from specific situation of both socio-economic systems. Článek porovnává výsledky postojů Čechů vůči Německu včetně aspektů česko-německé spolupráce v česko-německém pohraničí.
