Teaching System for Study Support of Advanced Statistics

The paper describes the tproposed teaching system for advanced statstics for PhD. students of technical universities. There are several conditions on them: to use technical instrumentations, to present mathematical texts of high quality, to be easily available whencesoever and to use only free open software. The whole teaching system needs to be as simple as possible. It has to be well arranged and described with corresponding manual enclosed. Cílem tohoto příspěvku je popsat navržený výukový systém, a to konkrétně zaměřený na výuku aplikované matematické statistiky pro studenty doktorského studia na technicky zaměřené vysoké škole. Podmínkou při jeho tvorbě byla možnost využití výpočetní techniky, bez které praktické řešení některých úloh již v současné době nelze vůbec provést. Systém pro výuku vyšší statistiky proto musí být schopný předkládat matematické texty ve vysoké kvalitě, dále musí být volně dosažitelný téměř odkudkoliv a použitý software musí být volně dostupný, otevřený ve smyslu možnosti jeho rozšiřování, a to i vlastními uživateli. V neposlední řadě pak celé výukové prostředí musí být přehledné, co nejjednodušší, velmi dobře popsané, s návody pro jeho obsluhu.

How to cope with positional inaccuracies in old maps?

This paper focuses on the utilization of historical essays and their interpretation The thing is that when maps created in various times are compared, position discrepancies are discovered. In such cases it is sometimes difficult to decide whether the discovered discrepancy results from the inaccuracy of old maps or whether a change in the landscape really occured. These problems can be solved by means of the probability theory and mathematical statistics. The mathematical statistics can thus contribute to higher objectiveness of the conclusions of historical and cartographic research. Téma tohoto příspěvku se týká využití výsledků historických studií a jejich interpretace. Často se totiž stává, že při srovnávání mapových děl vzniklých v různých dobách, dochází k polohovým nesouladům. V takových případech bývá někdy obtížné rozhodnout, zda zjištěný nesoulad je způsoben nepřesností starých map nebo zda skutečně došlo k nějaké reálné změně v krajině. Tyto problémy lze řešit pomocí teorie pravděpodobnosti a matematické statistiky. Matematická statistika tak může přispět ke zvýšení objektivity závěrů historicko-kartografických bádání.

In he framework of the development the methodology for the reliability analysis and maintenance optimization the distribution of the time to failure has been modelled in different situations and results supported by simulation studies. Further, the Fault tree analysis (FTA) module accessible through the Web has been developed and tested. V rámci práce na metodách pro sledování spolehlivosti výrobních zařízení a optimalizaci jejich údržby byl výzkum soustředěn na následující otázky: Analýza a modelování doby do poruchy v různých situacích, výzkum statistických metod, simulační studie, modely systémů prvků se vzájemnou závislostí a fault tree analýza (FTA).

Possibilities and Limits of Affine Transformation Application to Georeferencing

Affine transform is one of the most common transforms having been applied for several purposes in such branches as geodesy, cartography, GIS, remote sensing, computer graphics etc. Its application in some specific case is, however, limited by requirements on positional precision of transformed points in a given area of interest. This contribution therefore deals with accuracy analysis of affine transform. The aim of the analysis is to provide objective arguments for a decision whether affine transform is suitable for some specific purpose (eg. georeferencing of historical maps, matching of satellite or aerial images). Some generalizations of affine transform are also mentioned, namely method of collocation, Jung's transform, Coons plate, Thin Plate Spline, polynomial transform. Purely probabilistic and statistic approach is applied throughout the accuracy analysis, transformation parameters are estimated by Bayesian approach. Afinní transformace je jedna z nejpoužívanějších transformací pro nejrůznější účely v oborech geodézie, kartografie, GIS, DPZ, počítačová grafika apod. Její použití v určitém specifickém případě je však limitováno požadavky na přesnost polohy transformovaných bodů v dané zájmové oblasti. Tento příspěvek je proto věnován rozboru přesnosti afinní transformace. Cílem tohoto rozboru je poskytnout objektivní argumenty pro rozhodnutí o vhodnosti afinní transformace v konkrétním případě (např. při georeferencování starých map, družicových nebo leteckých snímků atp.). Jsou zmíněny také některé způsoby zobecnění afinní transformace, zejména metoda kolokace, Jungova transformace, Coonsův plát, TPS (Thin Plate Spline), polynomiální transformace. Rozbor přesnosti je prováděn pouze pravděpodobnostními a statistickými postupy, k odhadu transformačních parametrů je použit tzv. bayesovský přístup.

Electronic database of materials research of paintings

The article presents the database system, which enables to archive reports about material research during the analysis of painting art conservation. database structure was designed together with experts and it reflects methods for results archiving. Next to the archiving it offers the possibility to search through already stored reports, using both text-based and image-based approaches. The developed database together with implemented look-up functions forms the expert knowledge database. Práce se zabývá vývojem databázového prostředí pro archivaci zpráv materiálového průzkumu malířských děl. Struktura databáze byla navržena v součinnosti s odborníky a odráží používané postupy pro zaznamenávání výsledků. Kromě archivace poskytuje možnost vyhledávání v již vložených zprávách jak podle klíčových slov (textová informace), tak podle vizuální podobnosti (obrazová informace). Databáze spolu s implementovanými vyhledávacími funkcemi tvoří znalostní bázi informativního charakteru.
