The proceedings contain papers presented at the international scholarly conference dedicated to a great Ukrainian, Prof. Dmytro Chyzevs´kyj. This conference marked 25th anniversary of his death and aimed to commemorate his remarkable scientific work dealing with linguistics and literature of Slavonic nations. Sborník obsahuje příspěvky z mezinárodní vědecké konference věnované velkému Ukrajinci prof. Dmytru Čyževskému. Konference byla uspořádána k 25. výročí jeho smrti a byla vedena snahou připomenout Čyževského pozoruhodné vědecké dílo, které vytvořil v oboru lingvistiky a literatury slovanských národů. Matija Majar Ziljski and his contribution to the emancipation of the Slovene language in 19th century

The article is devoted to Matija Majar Ziljski who stimulated a wider use of the Slovenian language in the educational system and state administration in the middle of the 19th century. His language demands were the part of his political programme, whose importance exceeded the frontiers of Carinthia. Článek je věnován Matijovi Majaru Ziljskému, který přispěl k širšímu uplatnění slovinštiny ve školství a státní správy v polovině 19. století. Majarovy jazykové požadavky byly totiž součástí jeho politického programu, jehož význam přesáhl hranice Korutan. Balkan Slavs and their "original homeland" in the medieval sources

The contribution analyses the migration of Eastern Slav peoples (Bulgarians, Serbians, Croats) from their "original homeland" in Northern and Eastern Europe into the southern regions of the Balkan peninsula and the designation of this "homeland" as "old" (palaia) and "great" (megale) used in the Byzantine sources (Theophanes Confessor, Nicephorus, Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus). Příspěvek zkoumá migraci jižních Slovanů (Bulharů, Srbů a Chorvatů) z jejich "pravlasti" v severní a východní Evropě na jih, na Balkánský poloostrov a označení této "pravlasti" jako "staré" (palaia) a "velké" (megale) v byzantských pramenech (Theofanes Confessor, Nikeforos, Konstantinos VII. The article deals with the problematic of the literary production of Czech Viennese literati as a specific literary phenomenon. The author attempts, on the basis of the theoretical standpoints of the international project led by D. Ďurišin (Specific Interliterary Communities I-VI, Bratislava 1987-1993), to define the literary specifics of the works published in Vienna as well as, for the need of the article, about Vienna by local authors in Czech. Článek pojednává o problematice literární produkce českých vídeňských literátů jako specifickému literárnímu fenoménu. Autor se snaží na základě teoretických východisek mezinárodního projektu vedeného D. Ďurišinem (Osobitné medziliterárne spoločenstvá I-VI, Bratislava 1987-1993) vymezit literární specifika děl ve Vídni publikujících autorů, kteří o Vídni rovněž i česky psali.
