The possibilities digital edition

2015 - Czech This article presents an analysis of the particular features of the digital scholarly edition with regard to the possibilities of presentation, the conception of its organization, methodology, and the tools of editorial work. The article therefore first assesses the relationship between the traditional printed scholarly edition and the digital edition. It then presents an analysis of the topic of the digital publication of a text, and charts out the theoretical and the practical approaches to digital editions, particularly more complicatedly conceived ones, such as databases, archives, and scholarly editions. It does so while bearing in mind the possibilities and limitations of digital publishing. Different types of digital editions are then classified from the perspective of the discipline of editing, and basic terms from the discipline are judged, including the concepts of the choice of urtext, the canonical text, the forms of critical apparatus, and commentary. The article then considers the possibilities of digital processing for the needs of special textual analyses. The article is based on actual experience with the planning and preparing of digital editions, for example, the full-text databases of the Česká elektronická knihovna (Czech digital library) and the Kritické hybridní edice (Critical scholarly editions) — namely, the works of František Gellner (2014) and an electronic edition (2015) of Richard Weiner’s Rozcestí (Crossroads, 1918). Příspěvek se věnuje analýze specifik elektronické vědecké edice na rovině možností prezentace, koncepce uspořádání, metodologie a nástrojů ediční práce. Součástí příspěvku je tedy nejprve zhodnocení vztahu tradiční tištěné vědecké edice k edici elektronické, následuje rozbor problematiky elektronického zveřejnění textu, tj. zmapování jak teoretických, tak praktických přístupů k problematice elektronických, především náročněji koncipovaných, edic (databází, archivů, vědeckých edic) vzhledem k možnostem a limitům elektronického zveřejnění. Na rovině editologické jsou klasifikovány typy elektronických edic, posouzeny základní termíny z oblasti editologie: koncepty volby výchozího textu, kanonického textu, podoby textověkritického aparátu a komentářů. Dále se příspěvek věnuje možnostem počítačového zpracování pro potřeby speciálních textologických analýz. \nPříspěvek vychází ze zkušeností s přípravou a koncipováním elektronických edic: plnotextové databáze Česká elektronická knihovna, Kritické hybridní edice (Dílo Františka Gellnera /2014/) a elektronické edice Weinerova Rozcestí (2015). 2014 - Czech A further volume in the series Epigraphica et Sepulcralia, with a concept as a periodical forum for epigraphic and sepulchral studies, and the aim of mapping out the current state of research in two disciplines that are in practice closely linked – sepulchral research and mediaeval and early modern epigraphy. It is intended that individual issues will deliberately include articles with various chronological, thematic, disciplinary, and methodological approaches, and contributions by leading Czech and international researchers together with a selection of high-quality articles by researchers from the rising generation. In the current publication, therefore, in addition to the proceedings from the tenth meeting zasedání Longius aut propius, mors sua quemque manet held in Prague on 31 October – 2 November 2012, further complementary articles are to be found as outlined above. 2014 - Czech There are probably not many readers who would cherish their memories of writing a description at school… Nevertheless, hardly anyone would deny that we cannot do without descriptions in everyday face-to-face dialogues – though only a few of us may be able to reflect on the process of describing, and to judge to what extent it is influenced by the circumstances surrounding communication. The essay on “absent description” by Jana Hoffmannová provides an insight into everyday speech, as well as an opportunity for linguistic self-reflection. Linguistics is only one of the disciplines present in this volume: nine representatives of various fields of research and theories are brought together here to discuss the issue of description: analytic philosophy and fictionality theory, linguistics and literary history, art history and intermedia theory. Petr Koťátko discusses the relationship between the communicational functions of descriptions and their function in the structure of fictional worlds of literature. While he employs realist descriptions to illustrate the limits of their identificatory work, various descriptive modes provide a parameter for Ivana Taranenková to pursue the development of realist writing. Hardly any reader will doubt the fact that every fiction has its own more or less overt (or covert) narrator. Nevertheless, it remains to be proved whether there is a corresponding “descriptor” in descriptions: an attempt at doing so in the context of Czech fiction is made by Stanislava Fedrová. The possibilities of employing descriptive forms as a tool of poetics (be it the historical or the intermedia one) are put to the test by Zdeněk Hrbata (in his interpretation of the generic schemes underlying Gautier’s novel Le Capitaine Fracasse, and Emma Tornborg, who focuses on poetic ekphrasis. Na popis jako slohový úkol ve škole možná leckdo nevzpomíná rád. Přesto nejspíš nepopře, že jej často potřebujeme i v každodenních hovorech. Málokdo z nás si ovšem uvědomuje, jak vlastně běžně popisujeme a jak velkou roli při tom hrají okolnosti komunikace. Sondu do všednodenní řeči i námět k sebereflexi nabízí studie Jany Hoffmannové o „nepřítomném popisu“. Lingvistika je přitom jen jedním z oborů zastoupených v této publikaci: nad společným tématem se sešlo devět zástupců nejrůznějších disciplín a teorií: analytické filozofie a teorie fikcionality, lingvistiky a literární historie, teorie literatury a poetiky, dějin umění a teorie intermediality. Nad tím, do jaké míry lze přenášet zkušenost s komunikačním fungováním popisu do rozumění světu literárního díla, se z pozice teorie fikčních světů zamýšlí Petr Koťátko. Zatímco v jeho příspěvku ukázky z realistického románu ilustrují limity identifikační funkce popisu, Ivana Taranenková sleduje různé deskriptivní postupy jako příznak vývoje realistického psaní. Žádný čtenář patrně nepochybuje o tom, že vyprávění má vždy svého více či méně zřejmého vypravěče. Ovšem zda se popis může chlubit svým „deskriptorem“, je třeba se teprve přesvědčit: v české próze ověřuje Stanislava Fedrová. Podobně jako o tom, nakolik se dají popisné formy uplatnit jako nástroj poetiky: ať už historické (jak v interpretaci Gautierova Kapitána Fracasse ukazuje Zdeněk Hrbata), nebo intermediální (temporální principy básnické ekfráze zkoumá Emma Tornborgová).
