Measurement of time and frequency

Basic methods of time and frequency measurement are described. Attention is paid to measurement of period, frequency and time interval based on reciprocal time-interval counter. Stanford Research 620 counter serves to illustrate the case. Also mentioned is the calibration/measurement capability of the National Time and Frequency Standard. Jsou popsány základní metody měření času a frekvence. Hlavní pozornost je věnována měření periody, frekvence a časového intervalu reciprokým čítačem a hlavním zdrojům nejistoty měření. Jako příklad je uvedeno měření čítačem Stanford Research 620. Uvedena je rovněž kalibrační a měřící schopnost Státního etalonu času a frekvence.

Optical fibers for chemical sensing

The paper deals with performance of optical fibers for the development of chemical fibers. In its first part, there are physical basis shown are employed for the sensor design. Characteristics of particular types of fibers used in fiber-optic chemical sensors, namely polymer-clad silica /PCS/ fibers, sectorial fibers or fibers with special graded-index profiles are discussed in the next parts of the paper. V příspěvku jsou rozebrány možnosti optických vláken pro vývoj chemických senzorů. V úvodu jsou ukázány fyzikální základy využívané pro návrh vláknově-optických senzorů. Dále jsou pak diskutovány možnosti jednotlivých typů optických vláken využívaných pro vývoj chemických senzorů a to vláken typu PCS, sektorových vláken i vláken se speciálními gradientnímy profily indexu lomu.

The report summarizes the activities of the Laboratory of the National Time and Frequency Standard- CMI Associated Laboratory provided in the field of "Time and Frequency Calibration Services" to elaborate the Czech CMC table and to submit in to the BIPM KCDB database. Ve zprávě jsou shrnuty aktivity pracoviště Státního etalonu času a frekvence /SEČF/ - přidružené laboratoře ČMI - které vyústily ve vypracování tabulky CMC ["Time and Frequency Calibration Services of NMI /CZ/"] a její předložení k implementaci do databáze BIPM.

Diagnostic of vertically coupled microring resonator

A vertically coupled microring resonator based on Si.sub.3./sub.N.sub.4./sub.-SiO.sub.2./sub. technology was characterized by a tunable sem iconductor laser. The drop spectral responses were measured and resonator finesse, free spectral range and group effective index were determined. Bylo provedeno měření vertikálně vázaného kruhového mikrorezonátoru vytvořeném Si.sub.3./sub.N.sub.4./sub.-SiO.sub.2./sub. technologií pomocí jemně laditelného polovodičového laseru. Byla změřena spektrální odezva vyčleňovacího portu mikrorezonátoru a spočítány důležité parametry jako jsou jemnost mikrorezonátoru, vzdálenost rezonančních frekvencí mikrorezonátoru a grupový efektivní index.

Software for measuring secondary luminiscation is described. Software can switch power grades of heating and can gain actual temperature from Eurotherm controller. Výzkumná zpráva popisuje software pro automatické měření sekundární luminescence. Jsou popsány programy pro automatické měření i procedury pro řízení přístrojů zapojených do měřícího řetězce, zejména ovládání regulátoru teploty Eurotherm a přepínání výkonových stupňů vytápění.

The PC control unit for measurement of optical spectra through spectrometer Oriel is described. The analog data from optical detectors are converted to digital form and stored in HDD of PC machine. Je popsán řídící systém spektrometru ORIEL. Řídící systém programově ovládá pohon interferenční mřížky spektrometru a tím provádí výběr vlnové délky průchozího světla. Analogová data z detektoru světla převádí do číslicové formy a ukládá na disk.

Access and metropolitan area optical networks - state of the art and prospects for thir development

Optical metropolitan area networks are already being implemented in many countries and the optical access networks are at last taking off on a wider scale in some countries. Still, they present a bottleneck that has to be removed in order to satisfy the ever-growing demand for higher access bit rates. Technologies, architectures and services encountered in the optical access and metropolitan area networks, the state of affairs and the trends of development are discussed in the paper. Optické metropolitní sítě jsou již běžně stavěny v mnoha částech světa a zdá se, že i optické přístupové sítě se konečně začnou masově budovat v některých zemích. Přesto, obecně tyto sítě stále představují uzký profil, který musí být odstraněn, má-li být nasycen hlad zákazníků po stále vyšších přístupových rychlostech. Tento příspěvek podává přehled o technologích, architektuře a službách poskytovaných na těchto sítích a o současném stavu a trendech jejich rozvoje.

Simulation of the enciphering algorithm RSA in MATLAB

Enciphering algorithm RSA is up to now hold for one almost not decipherable methods of enciphering. At present it is used also for the electronic signature. The algorithm is based on elementary knowledge in number theory like congruence, Euler function and modular inversion. Because some number theoretic operations mey be processed in MATLAB it is shown, how the RSA algorithm can be simulated in MATLAB. Results and some simulation difficulties of the RSA algorithm are presented. Šifrovací algoritmus RSA je dodnes považován za jeden z téměř nerozluštitelných způsobů šifrování. V současné době je používán i pro účely elektronického podpisu. Algoritmus je založen na elementárních poznatcích z teorie čísel, jako je kongruence, Eulerova funkce a modulární inverse. Protože některé číselně teoretické operace lze zpracovávat i MATLABem, je uvedeno jak algoritmus v něm simulovat. Jsou ukázány výsledky a některá úskalí simulace tohoto algoritmu na standanrdním PC.
