Regional Differences in Rental Housing (Un)affordability following the Rent Deregulation in the Czech Republic

The paper focuses on the development of regional inequalities in rental housing (un)affordability in Czech Republic. The aim of the paper is to identify "model" types of household which are potentially at risk of being unable to afford "adequate" housing in case of no regulation. The development of regional differences in housing "unaffordability" in the period 2000-2007 is analysed.

The contribution informs public about sociological survey of Orlicko citizens in 2008. Analytic information on the citizens´ opinions and attitudes toward the contemporary developing projects and intentions in the territory, on effects of travel industry development and on citizens´ relation toward local self-government is notified.

The paper is focused on general definition of social housing in European countries, on general assessment of advantages and disadvantages of social housing and the question whether some part(s) of the housing stock in the Czech Republic could be considered for social housing. Some questions related to introduction of social housing in the Czech Republic are also discussed.

This paper is focusing on the differences in voter turnout between municipalities of different sizes in the Czech Republic. We will see that small municipalities has higher voter turnout than big one. Práce se zabývá rozdílem ve volební účasti mezi obcemi různé velikosti v České republice. Ukazuje trend nepřímé úměry mezi velikostí obce a volební účastí.

Institutional trust in the regions of the Czech Republic

The aim of this paper is to describe and explain regional differences in the level of trust in political institutions in the NUTS 2 regions in the Czech Republic. On the regional level the differences in the degree of political trust exists. However, these differences are caused rather by individual characteristics of respondents than by contextual regional factors. In addition, the differences between urban and rural regions were identified. The more urban region is the lower level of political trust was observed. Finally, the size of the municipality influences significantly the level of institutional trust, especially the trust in municipal boards. The smaller the municipality is the higher confidence in municipal board was observed. Cílem příspěvku je pospat a vysvětlit regionální rozdíly v hladině důvěry v politické instituce v regionech NUTS 2 v České republice. Existující regionální rozdíly na hladině NUTS2 jsou způsobeny spíše individuálními charakteristikami respondentů než kontextuálními regionálními faktory. Byly však identifikovány rozdíly mezi venkovskými a městskými regiony, čím urbanizovanější je region, tím je nižší hladina důvěry v politické instituce. Svoji významnou úlohu hraje také velikost obce. V menších obcích je zjištěna významně vyšší míra institucionální důvěry, zejména důvěry v lokální samosprávu.

Sociální diferenciace aktivní sportovní participace v České republice

Aktivní sportování jako součást volného času je sociálně diferencovanou aktivitou. Teoretické úvahy podpořené řadou empirických výzkumů upozorňují na vyšší míru sportovní participace vyšších vrstev. Příspěvek ukazuje na základě dat z let 1984, 1991 a 2007, že přes určitý nárůst celkové míry sportovní participace v České republice zde přetrvávají značné rozdíly mezi různými sociálními vrstvami. V podrobné analýze současné situace je posouzen význam horizontálních i vertikálních sociálních charakteristik pro sportování. Věk a pohlaví jsou podstatnými determinanty sportovní participace, stejně tak jako vzdělání respondenta i vzdělanostní prostředí rodiny, ze které pochází (vzdělání otce). Active sport participation (as a part of leisure time) is social differentiated activity. High level of active sport participation in higher strata of society is supported by theoretical thoughts and empirical findings. This contribution shows that in spite of the growth of the net level of sport participation in the Czech Republic between years 1984, 1991 and 2007, deep differentiation between different strata persists. Detailed analysis of the current situation considers importance of horizontal and vertical social characteristics of respondents in relation to their sport participation. Age and gender are significant determinants of sport participation, as well as education of respondents and the educational environment of the family of origin (education of father).

Some Specifics of Social Capital and Social Networks in Rural Municipalities

The statement about the impact of different size and type of municipalities on social capital is tested in the paper. Some characteristics of social networks and some indicators of social capital are analyzed on the basis of the ISSP 2001 data for the Czech Republic. The results are compared for different types of municipalities. V příspěvku je testována hypotéza o vlivu různé velikosti a typu obcí na sociální kapitál. Na základě dat z šetření ISSP 2001 pro Českou republiku jsou analyzovány vybrané indikátory sociálního kapitálu a sociálních sítí. Výsledky jsou porovnávány pro různé typy obcí.

Příspěvek se zaměřuje na analýzu regionálních disparit ve finanční dostupnosti nájemního bydlení v České republice. V příspěvku je diskutována problematika měření finanční dostupnosti bydlení i nedostupnosti zdrojů dat. Dále příspěvek ukazuje výsledky analýzy regionálních disparit ve finanční dostupnosti nájemního bydlení v letech 2000 – 2006. Cílem příspěvku je zjistit, zda se disparity mezi regiony a mezi různými typy domácností zvyšovaly nebo snižovaly. The paper addresses an analysis of regional disparities in rental housing affordability in the Czech Republic. In the paper, the issue of measuring housing affordability and the lack of relevant data set(s) are discussed. Additionally, the paper shows selected results of analysis of regional disparities in rental housing affordability in the period 2000 – 2006. The aim of the paper is to discover whether the disparities have been growing or shrinking among regions and among different types of households.
