Illusion and the American Dream in Miller's Death of a Salesman

This bachelor thesis deals with the theme of illusion and the American dream in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman. In the first chapter, the trope of The American Dream is outlined and its origins and development are presented. A connection is made between the past, the post-World War II as well as today's world. The second chapter represents an analysis of the plot, themes and characters of Death of a Salesman using specific examples from the play to demonstrate the characters' own illusions views of the American Dream. This bachelor thesis is concerned with the political and social satire portrayed in Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. The first part of the thesis explains the term of political and social satire and its use. The second chapter gives a brief insight into the life of the author, along with his ideals and opinions. The analysis of the book's criticism is covered in the third part of the paper. In this part, there is an overview of the different opinions of critics concerning what the focus of the book's criticism is, followed by a description of the main characters and the analysis of the concrete examples of the political and social satire in the novel. The fourth chapter covers the summary of my research in the conclusion of the thesis. Tato doktorská práce se zabývá vývojem metody QLISA reprezentovanou imunomagnetickým biosenzorem s využitím kvantových teček jako specifické značky umožňující elektrochemickou detekci širokého spektra proteinů. Velká část této práce je věnována vývoji konjugačního protokolu pro přípravu sekundárních protilkátek značených kvantovými tečkami. Tento nový přístup detekce cílových analytů je založen na principu tradiční metody ELISA s kombinací konvenčních materiálů jako jsou magnetické částice a moderních nanomateriálů (kvantové tečky) na pozadí klasické karbodiimidové chemie. Tato unikátní spojení umožňuje provést účinnou a citlivou imunoanalýzu s onemocněním spojených biomarkerů. Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na kritiku viktoriánské společnosti v komediích Ideální manžel a Jak je důležité míti Filipa od Oscara Wildea. Práce nejprve charakterizuje historické pozadí viktoriánského období. Společensko-kulturní pozadí se následně zabývá třídním systémem a podrobným popisem jednotlivých sociálních tříd. Komedie jsou dále zasazeny do literárního kontextu, který, mimo jiné, obě zvolená díla klasifikuje. Analýza se soustřeďuje na kritiku viktoriánských konvencí a morálku nejvyšší společenské třídy, jejíž představitelé ve zvolených hrách tvoří drtivou většinu postav. Witch in Miller's The Crucible as compared to Kramer and Sprenger's Malleus Maleficarum

Arthur Miller was a twentieth century American playwright who wrote a play The Crucible about witches and witch hunts in Salem as an allegory to the McCarthyism which was the period of the persecution of putative communists in America. Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Spreger were German inquisitors living in the late fifteenth century in Germany who wrote the treatise on the prosecution of witches Malleus Maleficarum, which encouraged people to the persecution of witches. The aim of this paper is to analyse in detail the portrayals of women and witches in Salem compared with the condemnatory attitude of the authors of Hammer of the Witches.
