2018 - Czech Příspěvek se soustřeďuje na staročeský překlad významné písemné památky, a to korunovačního řádu Karla IV. Nejstarší dochovaný rukopis českého překladu Karlova korunovačního řádu je datován rokem 1396 a do dnešní doby se dochovalo ještě dalších sedm textů českého překladu z 15. až 16. století, obsažených v různých rukopisných sbornících. Příspěvek ukazuje odlišnosti a vývoj staročeského překladu a oceňuje kvality staročeského znění tohoto významného díla. The paper focuses on the Old Czech translation of the Coronation Order of Charles IV. The oldest surviving manuscript of the Czech translation of Charles's Coronation Order dates back to 1396 and seven other texts of the Czech translation from the 15th to the 16th centuries, contained in various manuscripts, have been preserved to this day. The paper describes the differences and changes of the Old Czech translation and appreciates the quality of the Old Czech version of this important work. Jazykový management na sociálních sítích: jazyk jako předmět diskuse a jako index sociální identity autora

2018 - Czech Příspěvek se zabývá různými druhy jazykového managementu uplatňovaného na sociálních sítích jejich uživateli, konkrétně na Twitteru a Facebooku. Všímá si mj. fenoménu tzv. Grammar Nazis, hlavním tématem je ale zvláštní typ managementu spojený s psaním a interpretací nápadně neortografických textů. Jde o hravý a humorný management, vycházející ze sdíleného přesvědčení komunikujících, že lidé s xenofobními, šovinistickými apod. postoji neovládají český pravopis a mají obecně slabé jazykové kompetence. The paper deals with various language management types on Czech social media, namely on Twitter and Facebook. Having provided an overview of some common types of language management activities on the Czech internet, such as the activities of the so called “grammar Nazis”, the author focuses on a special type of language management, which includes writing and interpreting strikingly non-orthographic texts. This type of a playful and humorous management is based on the shared beliefs of the communicants that people of xenophobic, chauvinist etc. attitudes have poor competence in Czech spelling and in the Czech language generally. Living on the Edge: Integration vs. Modularity in the Phonology of Czech Anglicisms

2017 - English The article discusses different aspects of the phonology of Czech Anglicisms, categorizing the adaptation mechanisms into “integrative” and “modular.” The integrative mechanisms include the Phonological Approximation Principle, the Spelling Pronunciation Principle, and different types of analogies. The modular mechanisms, which increase the autonomy of the subsystem of Anglicisms, include the Original Pronunciation Principle, the presence of marked phonemes or phonotactic structures, phonological variability resulting from the competition between adaptation principles, irregular mapping between phonology and spelling, as well as underlying links to English phonology. Quantitative evidence is provided for some of these tendencies, and several psycholinguistic hypotheses are formulated in connection with the adaptation model. Reflection on the Dictionary of Czech Dialects

2017 - English After finishing the Czech Linguistic Atlas (1992-2011), the Brno Department of Dialectology of the Institute of the Czech Language, Czech Academy of Sciences, comes to the most significant phase of its aktivity - to the lexicological compilation of the gathered dialect materiál. In connection with a question arises, what type of a dialect dictionary should be compiled. It could be either some type of a differential dictionary, or a dictionary of comprehensive character. These guestions reflect not only the scientific point of view and the national and cultural interest, but also the temporal perspective, personal possibilities of the researches-dialectologists (their qualifications, experience, age) as well as in these days more and more important financial support. In her article, the author tries to characterize some possible zypes of differential dialect dictionaries and draws attention to their pros (advantages) and cons (dishadvantages).
