Olanzapin patří do skupiny atypických antipsychotik a běžně se používá při terapii schizofrenie. Zaměřili jsme se na změny perfuze mozkové tkáně u zdravých a MAM upravených zvířat. Detekovali jsme významně nižší prokrvení mozkové kůry při akutních a chronických olanzapinem léčených zvířat. Olanzapine belongs to the first choice drug in treatment of schizophrenia. We focused on blood perfusion changes inducted by acute and chronic application of olanzapine in healthy animals and MAM altered animals. We detectet significant lower perfusion of cerebral cortex in acute and chronic olanzapine treated animals. We susspect that it could be due to altered neurotransmiter regulation caused by olanzapine. Keywords: olanzapine; ASL; MAM Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Overlapping domain decomposition preconditioners for elliptic and parabolic problems in primal and mixed form

In this lecture, we concern the numerical solution of PDE problems and describe overlapping domain decomposition, which provides a tool for the construction of parallelizable Schwarz type iterative solvers and preconditioners. The idea of using overlapping domain decomposition goes back to Schwarz alternating method from 1870, see [1]. The analysis of this alternating iterative method was evolved by great mathematicians, see e.g. S.L. Sobolev (1936), R. Courant and D. Hilbert (1937), S.G. Michlin (1951), M. Práger (1958), I. Babuška (1958), F.E. Browder (1958). The use of overlapping domain decomposition for parallel computations started in the late eighties in the work of M. Dryja and O. Widlund [4], P.L. Lions [5, 6], S. Nepomnyaschikh [7] and others and continue up to the present days. The origin of the alternating Schwarz method is nicely described in [8]. On the boundary conditions in the numerical simulation of stably stratified fluids flows

This paper presents the results of a numerical study of the stably stratified flow over a low smooth hill. The emphasize is on certain problems related to artificial boundary conditions used in the numerical simulations. The numerical results of three-dimensional simulations are shown for a range of Froude and Reynolds numbers in order to demonstrate the varying importance of these boundary issues in different flow regimes. The simulations were performed using the Boussinesq approximation model solved by a high-resolution numerical code. The in-house developed code is based on compact finite-difference discretization in space and Strong Stability Preserving Runge–Kutta time integration. Nežádoucí metabolické účinky aripiprazolu v poly I:C modelu schizofrenie u potkana

The aim of this study was to evaluate metabolic phenotype of poly I:C rat model and asses metabolic effects of chronic aripiprazole treatment with regard to complex neuroendocrine regulations of energy homeostasis. Altered lipid profile in poly I:C model was observed. Leptin and GLP-1 serum levels were significantly reduced, while ghrelin level was elevated. Our data indicate that dysregulation of adipose tissue endocrine function and gastrointestinal hormones is implicated in metabolic adverse effects of antipsychotics. Bifurcations in contact problems with Coulomb friction

To explore the bifurcation in this contact problem, we have taken uniform meshes with 4096, 16384, 65536 and 262144 triangles. We shall show that the bifurcation behaviour is more complex here. Branches 1 and 4 approach one another for finer meshes, and they disappear both for the finest mesh. Seminar on Numerical Analysis 2017 (SNA'17) is a continuation in a series of SNA events held in different places in the Czech Republic and organized alternatively by Ostrava and Prague institutions. We introduce a dissipative measure-valued solution to the compressible non-Newtonian system. We generalized a result given by Novotný, Nečasová [14]. We derive a relative entropy inequality for measure-valued solution as an extension of the "classical" entropy inequality introduced by Dafermos [2], Mellet-Vasseur [11], Feireisl-Jin-Novotný [5]. Note on the use of Camassa-Holm equations for simulation of incompressible fluid turbulence

The aim of this short communication is to briefly introduce the Camassa-Holm equations as a working model for simulation of incompressible fluid turbulence. In particular we discuss its application for turbulent boundary layer flows. This model (and related models) is studied for several years in mathematical community, starting from Leray [23]. It can be understood as a generalization of some classical fluid models (Navier-Stokes equations, Prandtl boundary layer equations), showing some interesting mathematical properties in the analysis of the behavior of it's solution (e.g. Layton and Lewandowski [22]). It has been found however, that the model predictions can lead to surprising extensions of the use of the model in technical applications, namely in simulating the turbulent fluid flows. This brief paper should be understood as an introductory note to this novel class of models for applied scientists. Word problems of a given structure in the perspective of teacher training

The paper reports on the results of a research study focusing on how to train prospective teachers for guiding their pupils through the process of solving word problems. The teaching experiment involved prospective teachers’ work with graphical representations called branched chains to solve and pose word problems. The paper shows the difficulties the students were facing, presents ideas from discussions during joint reflection, tries to describe the changes in the students’ skills and attitudes. It also points at the differences between prospective primary and secondary mathematics teachers.
